For sale is my 2005 Toyota Tacoma crew cab 4 wheel drive truck.  I purchased this truck brand new in 2005.  The original price was $29,198.  It has 239,905 miles.  I drive a lot for work, so it has accumulated a lot of highway miles.  It has never been in an accident or had any repairs done to the body.  It runs and drives perfectly.  There is absolutely nothing mechanically wrong with the truck.  The only reason I am sellings is because I needed a larger truck.  I wish I did not need a larger truck as I love this truck and have absolutely no doubt that I could drive it for another 250,000 miles without any trouble.  The tires are in great condition with less than 20,000 miles on them.  The truck has Weather Tech floor mats in the front.  These are the best floor mats made.  They are molded to fit perfectly and not allow any dirt or liquid to reach the carpet.  They have been in the truck its entire life and the carpet underneath has no stains because of it.  This truck will never rust out.  I have undercoated it myself multiple times.  I just reapplied a fresh coat of undercoating this week.  I had new shocks and struts put on it last year and it rides great.  Last month the heat became slow to warm up.  I ended up replacing the water pump, main belt, all cooling hoses, and flushing the cooling system.  Turns out the only thing wrong was a loose belt, but once I had it that far apart I figured I just as well replace everything so that it will be good for another 250,000 miles.  That is the only work that has ever been done to the engine.  There are two things wrong with the truck.  First, the seek up button on the radio does not work.  Seek down works fine, but I guess I wore out the seek up button.  Second, there is a crack in the windshiel along the bottom edge.  It never bothered me, so I never replaced it.  It does have 239,905 miles on it, so there are a few rock chips here and there and normal things, but overall the truck is in great shape, and I have no doubt better taken care of than similar trucks out there with 100,000 miles on them.  I just checked the milage on my last tank of gas and it got 19.2 MPG accross the board with highway and city driving both.  This is an amazing truck and the new owner will not be dissapointed.  Please call with any questions, 309-255-2981.  Thanks

2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

Thu, 23 Oct 2014

Despite the earnest efforts of Japanese automakers like Toyota and Nissan, the American pickup truck scene remains wholly dominated by the likes of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler. This is not news. Part of the reason is because of the sheer number of variants offered by US automakers - everything from work-spec base trucks to house-leveling heavy duty models can be had, with a seemingly endless combination of engines, cab sizes, bed lengths and trim levels. It's a hugely profitable business, and though the Japanese automakers still offer competitive fullsize trucks, in terms of sheer volume, they simply don't compete.
But American pickups aren't just about work; there's a huge play aspect involved, too. Look at the desert-storming Ford F-150 SVT Raptor or the Ram Power Wagon - these butch trucks are built with superb off-road prowess in mind, and Detroit's Japanese rivals have once again largely been silent in this segment. Until now.
Introduced at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, Toyota now offers the TRD Pro series of models that, in addition to the crazy-orange Tundra seen here, includes the smaller Tacoma pickup and 4Runner SUV. And this isn't just some pretty appearance package, either - there's honest-to-goodness capability baked into all of the TRD Pro models. Intriguing, for sure, so I recently spent a weekend with the big boy Tundra to see what's what.

Expedition drives from Russia to Canada over North Pole...

Tue, 21 May 2013

No, a Ford Expedition did not drive from Russia to Canada via the North Pole, but that's exactly what a team of intrepid explorers accomplished recently. Using specially-modified buses with massive tires, the group slowly drove 2,485 miles in 70 days over drifting ice, occasionally using a pickaxe to clear a path and staying on guard for chasms that could open up and plunge the team into the frigid arctic waters. Average speeds were about 6 mph, "at the speed of a (farm) tractor." While the big tires technically allowed the buses to float if the need arose, the team preferred to stay out of the water to keep the suspension from getting coated in thick, hard ice. Falling in on foot would mean almost certain death.
According to Phys.org, the buses were powered by Toyota diesel engines, but were built with prototype parts from a previous driving expedition to the North Pole. Right now, the machines are parked in a garage in Canada's Resolute Bay while the the team rests up with family back home. They plan to continue their trek to back across the Bering Straight to Russia. If successful, the team may eventually offer a version of their buses for commercial sale.

2014 Toyota Corolla to bow before LA

Sat, 30 Mar 2013

We've sort of been wondering when Toyota would finally debut the next-generation Corolla sedan, especially since the current car is getting very, very long in the tooth. We got a glimpse of the new compact's design at this year's Detroit Auto Show in the form of the Furia concept seen above, but we figured we'd see the production car by now.
According to Edmunds, Toyota will be unveiling the new Corolla sometime soon, and it won't wait until the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Officials from the Japanese automaker did not state a specific location or date for the new car's unveiling, but said that the 2014 Corolla is expected to be on sale before the LA expo later this year and that it will be revealed "somewhere in the US."
Toyota did not divulge any details about the new Corolla, and we're willing to bet that the aggressive lines of the Furia concept will be dulled down quite a bit for the production model. Still, news that the new car is coming sooner rather than later is indeed a good thing.
