This 2000 Toyota Tacoma SR5 2WD extended cab pick up has only 71,500 one-owner miles on it. I'm listing this for a family member who bought it brand new. It JUST passed PA state PSI/EM inspections. This low mileage truck not only has the SR5 package, it has power windows & locks, air conditioning, AM/FM/CD/cass audio system, power steering & brakes, sliding rear window, tilt wheel and more. The Carfax is clean. With the extended cab, you get extra space behind the front seats. There are 2 jump seats back there, perfect for the kids. The bottoms of the jump seats fold up when not in use. As you can see from the pictures, this truck is in very good conditon. It's a pick up, so there are plenty of scratches and dings all around. This truck has been used, but certainly not abused. It has been garage kept since new. There is a bunch of rust-through on the rear bumper. I took this truck to the largest Toyota dealership in Pennsylvania and had a Master Technician inspect the under side of the truck. It was undercoated and there is no rust on the underside. This is not the first truck to have the rear bumpers rusting through. It you look through the pictures, you'll see lots of surface scratches and dings. There are a couple of small dents, most noticably on the tail gate, but nothing I saw that is rusting. The front grill has been replaced after a family member (not me) unsuccessfully moved something. No paintwork was done. Everything works, it's just time to get out of the pick-up truck stage of life. E-mail me any questions you have (except for what the reserve is) and I will do my best to get you an answer quickly. Please be advised that this truck is available to prior sale before the reserve is met. I am relisting this at a much lower reserve to help move things along. Thanks for looking!!

How Charlotte lost to Plano without even knowing it was dealing with Toyota
Thu, 08 May 2014With Toyota set to relocate its North American headquarters to the Dallas, TX suburb of Plano following a top-secret, 100-city search, the cities that missed out can now begin asking themselves what happened during a process they apparently knew little about.
That's a particularly brutal task for Charlotte, which, according to North Carolina's Secretary of Commerce, Sharon Decker, finished second to Plano. While Toyota has been fairly open about what it was looking for in a new headquarters city - direct flights to Japan, proximity to its US production facilities, a lower cost of living, high-quality educational facilities and finding a neutral site suitable to the California, Kentucky and New York-based employees that would be relocated - it's been less open about how the finalist cities, which also included Atlanta and Denver, stacked up against each other.
The Charlotte Observer has a few ideas. Part of the problem is the distinct lack of direct flights between Charlotte and Asia. US Airways, which operates a hub at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, doesn't fly to Asia.
Jim Lentz exposes more details behind Toyota's move to Texas
Fri, 02 May 2014Toyota's North American CEO Jim Lentz has already given us a rough idea of what prompted the company's surprise move to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX from its longstanding headquarters in Torrance, CA. A new story from The Los Angeles Times, though, delivers even more detail from Lentz on the reasoning for the move, what other cities were considered and why the company's current host city wasn't even in the running.
Of course, one of the more popular reasons being bandied about includes the $40 million Texas was set to give the company for the move, as well as the state's generous tax rates. According to Lentz, though, the reason Toyota chose Plano over a group of finalists made up of Atlanta, Charlotte and Denver, was far simpler than that - it was about consolidating its marketing, sales, engineering and production teams in a region that's closer to the company's seat of manufacturing in the south.
"It doesn't make sense to have oversight of manufacturing 2,000 miles away from where the cars were made," Lentz told The Times. "Geography is the reason not to have our headquarters in California."
1967 Toyota 2000GT most expensive Asian car ever sold at $1.2M
Fri, 10 May 2013Toyota's agelessly beautiful 2000GT has been sold by RM Auctions for $1.16 million, making it the new record holder for the most expensive Asian car ever sold. As always, rarity played a big factory in driving up the price; just 351 2000GT models were built, and only 62 left-hand-drive cars (like this one). The classic Toyota, standout member of Texas car-collector Don Davies' paddock, was originally a US-delivery car that spent time in a collection back in a Japan before returning to Texas just a short time ago. The car last sold in March of 2011, for just $650,000.
Enthusiasts will recognize the 2000GT as perhaps the most heralded Japanese classic of all time. The Toyota was a contemporary of the Jaguar E-Type - though one that obviously sold in a fraction of the English car's numbers - that was well reviewed by the motoring press of the day. Sometimes referred to as Japan's first supercar, the 2000GT boasted a 150-horsepower, dual overhead cam, 2.0-liter straight-six engine; a five-speed manual transmission; and a reported top speed of over 135 miles per hour.
RM described this record-setting example as, "the finest and most authentic 2000GT to come to market in recent years," equating it with blue chip classic exotics like the Ferrari Daytona and Lamborghini Miura.
