As Per Kelly Blue Book Site:  The 2008 Toyota Sienna is considered one the best minivans on the market today. Although not as big as the Honda Odyssey or Dodge Grand Caravan, the Sienna is still a sizable family hauler with room for up to eight persons. Known for its solid build and a spotless reputation for reliability, the Sienna quietly retains one other noteworthy quality: A strong resale value.  This vehicle currently has a resale value of approximately $16,000.

The 2008 Toyota Sienna's 3.5-liter V6 engine delivers where it counts, and it performs beautifully in both city and highway driving. The Sienna pulls quickly from a dead stop and...
power is masterfully managed by an electronically controlled five-speed automatic that makes the most of the engine's torque curve before seamlessly shifting to the next gear. The Sienna's wide stance and long wheelbase make for an extremely smooth ride and further bolster the Sienna's already rock-solid stability. Some drivers may feel the steering effort to be somewhat heavy for a minivan, but the resultant firm and direct steering makes it possible to pull off highly accurate maneuvers not usually attempted in a vehicle of this sort.

Sliding Side-Door Power Windows
Sliding side-door power windows allow passengers to enjoy as much fresh air as they like.

Split Flush-Folding Third-Row Seat
The Sienna's split flush-folding third-row seat allows you to carry both additional passengers and cargo.

Interior

A look inside the Sienna clearly shows that Toyota is a player in the upscale van market. Trim levels include the CE, LE, XLE and Limited, and each has a great standard equipment list. The Sienna's seats take full advantage of the van's roomy interior, with wide seat bottoms as well as firm back rests. Second-row seating is either a set of captain's chairs that can be slid together to form a two-person bench, or a three-person split-folding bench seat with a sliding center section that can move forward by as much as 13 inches. The sliding center section makes an infant in a child safety seat more easily accessible to the front-seat passenger. Like the Honda Odyssey, the Sienna's rear seat can fold flush into the floor and features a 60/40 split. Cargo space behind the third seat has been improved thanks to the Sienna's long wheelbase.

Exterior

The Sienna is smartly styled but offers nothing radical in the way of exterior features or design. The current Sienna is bigger than previous generations, with a long wheelbase and a wide cabin with over 45 cubic feet of volume. The wide cabin permits three-passenger seating without cramping. Generous hip and shoulder room, a noticeable shortcoming on previous models, is a thing of the past. Clever features, such as sliding side doors with retractable glass windows and the option of part-time four-wheel drive, help the Sienna stand out in what has become a very crowded field.

2014 Toyota Corolla debuts with more power, interior space

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

Depending on who you ask, the best-selling car in the world is either the Ford Focus or Toyota Corolla. Not surprisingly, Toyota claims it's the Corolla. Either way, we're talking around a million individual units per year, and over 40 million over the car's lifetime on the market, so the redesign of Toyota's compact sedan is big-time news for the Japanese automaker that it needs to get right.
The Toyota Corolla was last redesigned way back in 2008, meaning the 2014 model is a long-overdue update to the C-segment sedan. Its age shows when compared to newer rivals like the Honda Civic, Chevy Cruze, Hyundai Elantra and the aforementioned Ford Focus when comparing technology features, fuel mileage and interior roominess. In an effort to solve those demerits, Toyota has added nearly four inches to the 2014 Corolla's wheelbase and will offer a new continuously variable transmission with seven simulated gear ratios.
Engine choices consist of two available 1.8-liter four-cylinder units, one with 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque, and another more efficient version that uses Toyota's new Valvematic technology to offer 140 horses and 126 lb-ft of torque. Eco and Sport modes will be selectable by the driver.

MotorWeek remembers retro icons, Supra and NSX

Thu, 16 Oct 2014

It's easy to poke a joke here and there about John Davis, the long-time host of MotorWeek. His voice is so monotonous that, from time to time, if you closed your eyes, you may think it's generated via a computer. But you have to give him and the rest of the show a lot of credit. The program has been on the air for decades, giving people direct, straight-down-the middle automotive reviews.
MotorWeek's massive back catalog of reviews are slowly making their way onto YouTube, and they provide a fascinating chance to look back on how performance cars rank against their contemporaries from back in the day. Two recent additions include the show's old looks at the 1986 Toyota Supra, the dawn of the third-generation model, and the now-iconic 1991 Acura NSX.
Both reviews are interesting in their own way. These days you hear nary a negative word about the original NSX, but MotorWeek isn't afraid to point out a few flaws. And the Supra really shows the progress of suspension tuning in the intervening decades because it has some serious body roll in the corners. Scroll down to check out both videos and get a blast from the automotive past.

Scion xB death sentence uncertain, minor updates announced

Mon, 10 Dec 2012

The last time we discussed the Scion xB and xD, in April of this year, it was to announce a report that both models were being killed. The vice president of the brand had said, "We don't have plans for a direct xB or xD replacement," but no date was given for the termination. Turns out rumors of their deaths have been greatly exaggerated: as part of a Toyota press release that summarized feature and pricing changes for 2013, the Scion xB was included.
The 2013 hatchback (above) gets a new front bumper and lower fascia with LED lighting, and the rear end gets a black diffuser. Stingray Metallic and Elusive Blue Metallic exterior hues will disappear, Absolutely Red and Nautical Blue Metallic will take their places. Inside will be light bronze metallic and chrome accents, as well as new seat fabric and the availability of the BeSpoke Premium Audio. It increases in price by $500, the manual costing $16,800, the automatic $17,750.
The xD (inset) has been left off the list and the Scion website it still hawking the 2012 car. But 2013 xD pricing and new features were announced earlier this year, the MSRP rising by $125 to $16,500. New equipment and options includes smoked headlight covers, more airbags and a two-tone paint job.
