1997 Toyota Rav4 being sold No Reserve . A very economical SUV that runs very nice. Great on gas. The well known & extremely reliable Toyota 2.0L engine purrs like a kitten. Awd works great. Trans shifts smooth. The only issue I can find with this SUV is a drivetrain whine. When you drive this vehicle you will hear a whining noise. If driving with heat, a/c and radio off and windows up you can hear a whine noise. Windows open, radio on, air conditioning which by the way is ice cold turned on, you can hardly hear it. Not sure if a wheel bearing is bad or a noise in the drivetrain somewhere. I want you to know what your buying. So many people take advantage of buyers and find these things out after the purchase. If there is an issue with a vehicle and I know about it, I will make sure your aware...This whine does not effect the driving at all. Vehicle runs and drives great. No issues at all. Either spend the time and money to have this fixed or don't let it bother you save lots of money and have a nice vehicle that you can feel safe driving anywhere. Could be simple fix, or could possibly be more involved. With mechanical issues you never know. Instead of putting the money in it, we been driving it as is. 80mph driving this little Rav seems effortless. Runs, drives, stops and handles very nice. Engine compartment is clean. Nice looking SUV. Silver shines nice. Few knicks, scratches and dings. Typical of 1997 vehicle. Equipped with power windows, power sunroof, power mirrors, power locks. Inside is clean and odor free. Seats, carpet, dash and trim are all very nice. This Rav has been taken care of and it shows. Plenty of room and lots of storage room in the back. Rear spare tire cover has a crack in it. Overall a very nice Rav 4 that will provide you with excellent transportation for a great value. Drive anywhere. Clear Ohio title ready to transfer. As Is No Reserve!!!! If at all possible come take for a ride you will be pleased. If too far away please look over the pictures and bid accordingly. A great value. Thanks for viewing!!!!

Eiji Toyoda dead at 100
Tue, 17 Sep 2013Toyota has had number of chiefs over its 76-year history, but none ever served as long as Eiji Toyoda. The younger cousin of the company's founder served as president of the automaker from 1967 to 1982 and as chairman of the Toyota Motor Corporation for another ten years following the unification of the manufacturing and sales divisions.
During his 25 years at the helm, Eiji Toyoda (pictured above in 1967) was credited with establishing the company's headquarters in Toyota City, spearheading the development of the Prius, expanding production overseas for the first time, launching the Lexus brand and turning Toyota from a minor player into one of the largest automakers in the world.
Even after his retirement in 1992, he remained an honorary chairman and close advisor to his successors, and chaired the company's museum. He died of heart failure, ending a 100-year life that started on September 12, 1913, before the company that bore his family's name (albeit slightly modified) had even started building automatic looms, let alone automobiles. We extend our condolences to the Toyoda family and our congratulations on an accomplished life.
Toyota RAV4 EV lease gets cut in half to $299/month
Tue, 27 Aug 2013If you're in the market for a new electric vehicle, now is definitely the time to buy or lease. Following price drops on just about every other EV on the market, Toyota is looking to push a few more all-electric RAV4 crossovers out the door over the Labor Day weekend. The Detroit News is reporting that, through September 3, anyone looking to get into a RAV4 EV in Los Angeles or San Francisco, can get a deal: a $299 a month lease (no word on down payment, though) or zero-percent financing for 60 months for buyers.
The $49,800 RAV4 EV normally leases for twice as much - $599 a month - so this move could be an attempt to sell more of the 2,600 units Toyota has planned to produce. Or maybe, if you thought $599 was a fair price, you can now get two RAV4 Evs. Although temporary, the price drop comes at a time when many other EVs on the market have had their prices reduced, including the Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, Smart Fortwo ED and Honda Fit EV, not to mention already low prices for the Fiat 500e and Chevy Spark EV.

LA Design Challenge invokes biology for 2025 concepts [w/poll]
Wed, 13 Nov 2013Participants in the annual LA Design Challenge always manage to come up with edgy, wacky designs for future vehicles, but with a theme of "Biomimicry and Mobility: 2025" this year's crop of cars might be the quirkiest we've ever seen. As usual, automotive designers from around the world participated in this year's competition, and all the designs will all be unveiled next week during the LA Auto Show with a winner being announced on November 21.
Chinese automakers made a strong showing with Qoros, SAIC Motor, JAC Motors (the company responsible for the Ford F-150 clone) and Changfeng all bringing interesting takes on the biology, human intelligence and sustainability theme. One of the more innovative ideas among these automakers is the Qoros Silk Road System allows autonomous vehicles to drive in packs similar to how ants travel. Speaking of ants, the SAIC Motor Mobiliant (shown above) gets its design from the shape of an ant's body, and, like the insect, it can climb building acting as a personal elevator as well. The JAC Motors design also merges vehicle and building design, while the Changfeng LaBrea inspired by the design of muscle fibers.
Other entrants include Subaru and US-based design teams for BMW, Toyota and Mazda. BMW's duo of concepts mimic plant and animal life. The LA Subways concept acts as a submersible, single-person vehicle to take advantage of the LA river, with a shape similar to an Ocean Sunfish. The Sustainable Efficient Exploratory Device (SEED) imitates the shape of a seed pod, and uses propulsion methods inspired by a shark, dragonfly and a water bug. Mazda's Auto Adapt might be the most car-like concept of the bunch, while the Subaru Suba-Roo and the Calty-designed, Toyota e-grus are the most mind-blowingly awesome.
