Up for bid is my beloved 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo.

Not an easy decision to sell, never thought I would, but it is new house time.

I picked this car up about 10 years ago when it had 22k on it.
I am the second owner and have driven it almost daily ever since.
The car now has 101145k of normal driving miles.
Starts strong, runs strong, drives amazing.
AC blows cold and everything works including all electronics.
Original spare tire, toolkit, and all manuals including original sticker and all receipt since new.
I did add a security system to compliment the factory Toyota Theft-Deterrent and add keyless entry.

Never modded, raced, or abused.
Mobil 1 every 3k since 22k
Redline MT90 in transmission since 60k

The car has all original motor, paint, and body. The only parts ever painted are front bumper lower driver door for cosmetics.
Beautiful black interior that is very clean.

Only issues:
dented passenger quarter
rust on lower driver door (touched up)
ripped stitching in drivers seat - leather not torn
Tinted windows showing wear and scratches

NHTSA investigating 561k Toyota Prius hybrids for possible steering shaft defect

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

The Detroit News is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will investigate some 561,000 Toyota Prius models for potentially defective steering shafts. The affected hybrid models are from the 2004-2009 model years. The story indicates that NHTSA is weighing whether or not to grant a defect petition, which claims that Toyota incorrectly assembled the hatchback's steering linkage.
As of this writing, there is no recall. However, a recall based on the Prius steering shaft would be the third related to steering issues for the model since 2006. Seven years ago, Toyota recalled 170K Prius models for potential cracking of the intermediate shafts, and in November of 2012, the automaker recalled 670K units to replace the steering shaft extension assembly.
We'll be monitoring NHTSA's signals to see if this investigation turns into a full-fledged recall. For now, stay tuned.

MotorWeek remembers retro icons, Supra and NSX

Thu, 16 Oct 2014

It's easy to poke a joke here and there about John Davis, the long-time host of MotorWeek. His voice is so monotonous that, from time to time, if you closed your eyes, you may think it's generated via a computer. But you have to give him and the rest of the show a lot of credit. The program has been on the air for decades, giving people direct, straight-down-the middle automotive reviews.
MotorWeek's massive back catalog of reviews are slowly making their way onto YouTube, and they provide a fascinating chance to look back on how performance cars rank against their contemporaries from back in the day. Two recent additions include the show's old looks at the 1986 Toyota Supra, the dawn of the third-generation model, and the now-iconic 1991 Acura NSX.
Both reviews are interesting in their own way. These days you hear nary a negative word about the original NSX, but MotorWeek isn't afraid to point out a few flaws. And the Supra really shows the progress of suspension tuning in the intervening decades because it has some serious body roll in the corners. Scroll down to check out both videos and get a blast from the automotive past.

Toyota found not at fault in alleged unintended acceleration crash

Fri, 11 Oct 2013

Toyota has already paid out millions and billions of dollars in settlements surrounding unintended acceleration, but the first lawsuit in the matter, which headed to a California court in July, has reached a verdict. Following the 2009 death of Noriko Uno, whose 2006 Camry was hit by another car and then sped out of control before crashing into a tree, the jury found that Toyota was not at fault in the crash.
Even though the 2006 Camry (shown above) wasn't involved in any of the unintended acceleration-related recalls and it was not equipped with a brake override, Automotive News reports that the jury's verdict says there was no defect in the car and actually blames the entire incident on the driver that ran into Uno's car - to the tune of $10 million. The accident started when the other driver ran a stop sign and hit Uno's car, and the report says that medical conditions (including diabetes) caused Uno to fail to stop her Camry.
The AN article also states that this lawsuit was a bellwether case for around 85 other personal-injury and wrongful-death suits against Toyota, but there are still many impending suits across the country. Scroll down for an official statement on this particular case from Toyota.
