Up for auction is my  beautiful low mileage  1990 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62. It's spent it's entire life in the Portland Oregon area, and garage kept.  I have owned this since July of 1997.  I purchased my Landcruiser from a man who bought it from the original owner.  (his Father-in-Law)

The paint is all original, and glossy.    No signs of  fading or peeling.   There is one small dent in the drivers side fender,  which I have shown in the photos.  I don't want to cut into the 100% original paint so I have left the dent in the fender.
The chrome trim above the license plate  does have some rust which was covered with silver paint. (see photo)  It's on the trim piece only and does not continue into the body.
I have found no other signs of rust on the frame or the body.

The interior is well above average, not a rip or a  tear in the original seats or carpet.  The rear drivers-side door panel has a small one inch long slice in it. (see photo)  The  instrument panel and blemish-free dash are all in exceptional condition.  The windshield doesn't have any chips or cracks,  and all windows are professionally tinted.   All gauges and accessories work as intended with the exception of the power radio antenna. The air conditioner blows cold at all speeds and the heater blows hot.  All electric windows go up and down smoothly from all controls.  .   The automatic door locks all lock/unlock.   It starts with ease, idles nicely and runs out smoothly,  shifting without any issues.  All fluids have been serviced.
The matching B.F Goodrich All-Terrain tires have approximately 90+% tread remaining.  Front and rear brake pads/shoes have about 10k miles on them.  I recently replaced the water pump with an original Toyota one.  All drive belts were also replaced.
It  recently passed an emissions test,  and I have the certificate for the  new owner.

Options include a locking Yakima roof rack and a receiver tow hitch.

Overall, simply a beautiful  Land Cruiser FJ62 in exceptional above-average condition.

I would have no reservations driving this Cruiser across the  country tomorrow.

Please review the photos as I feel they are the true representation of the overall condition of the vehicle. And feel free to ask any and all questions prior to placing a bid and I will answer them as quickly and honestly as possible. Inspections are welcome prior to the auction ending, not after.

I will not arrange shipping.  However,  I will help with the process, including driving it  to a local shipping depot.
Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping/customs fees.

I do not intend to exclude anyone from  bidding on this vehicle.  However,  zero- bidders must contact me first or I will cancel your bid.  You must have a valid  Paypal account to place a bid. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of auction completion,  with the balance due within 7 days.  Bank Wire, Cash or Cashiers Check for remainder of the balance.  Please review the payment instructions and methods accepted below prior to bidding.  If you have any questions, contact me.  Thanks  for looking!

Every effort has been made to accurately describe this vehicle. I have disclosed all information known about this vehicle.
Sold as-is.  No warranties expressed or implied.  All sales final.  No refunds will be given.  Deposit is also non-refundable.  All non-paying bidders will be reported to ebay.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.

Toyota begins shipping Le Yaris to America

Fri, 17 May 2013

Our tiniest Toyota (Scion iQ notwithstanding) is about to get a little French flair. The Japanese automaker announced Thursday that its Toyota Motor Manufacturing France facility would begin building Yaris models destined for North America - specifically, the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada. This will mark the first time in history that Toyota has exported vehicles to North America from Europe.
Initially, Toyota will export roughly 25,000 Yaris models to North American markets from France each year. In order to handle this additional production, Toyota Motor Manufacturing France has invested 10 million euro into its French facility.
Despite being somewhat of a snooze-fest (it's a car!), the Yaris carries on in North America with a 106-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, with prices starting at $14,370 for the three-door and $15,395 for the five-door, not including $795 for destination.

Toyota will steer clear of driverless cars

Thu, 04 Sep 2014

Toyota executives say the company's primary focus is on safety. At least for the time being, that means the company won't pursue development of a driverless car.
Speaking at the company's advanced safety seminar in Ypsilanti, MI, Thursday morning, Seigo Kuzumaki, Toyota's deputy chief safety technology officer, said that Toyota envisions a future driving environment that optimizes the best of both humans and computers, not choosing one over the other.
"Toyota's main objective is safety, so it will not be developing a driverless car." - Seigo Kuzumaki
