This is a great fj40 that we bought a few years ago. It has been refreshed and upgraded but I would not call it restored. It is currently registered and driven almost daily. We love it but I have too many other priorities and need to sell it. I tried to take pictures that will give you a good idea of the condition of this vehicle, please look at them carefully. I value my 100% positive feed back and will try to describe this vehicle as openly as possible. Please ask questions if there is more you would like to know. Body: Not a show car but very respectable. Pictures should tell most of the story. Some minor rust starting to show under the doors. The outside only has been re sprayed with original PPG dune beige paint, the inside is still original so that gives an indication of what is under the paint. It appears that some previous body work has been done. For example a new rear sill has been welded in. Basically it looks nearly perfect from 10 feet away but there are various minor blemishes. Cool heavy duty bumpers, the rear bumper can be used as an air tank. Almost all gaskets and weather stripping has been replaced and is excellent condition. Mechanical: It has a low mileage TBI fuel injected 350 crate V8 that runs awesome with plenty of power. It is adapted to the original transmission and transfer with a Marks adapter. Saginaw power steering, Alcan suspension lift. Things that need attention: Parking break does not work. Wind shield washer nozzle is missing, Exhaust leaks. Probably a few other minor things.

Toyota asking NHTSA for fuel cell car safety exemption regarding electric shocks
Mon, 30 Jun 2014Toyota is requesting an exemption from federal safety regulations that govern electric cars as it prepares to launch a small-scale hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle fleet.
The Japanese automaker is targeting Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 305, which covers the packaging of high-voltage parts in electric cars. According to Uncle Sam, these systems need to be isolated so that passengers and first responders aren't electrocuted in the event of a crash. That seems pretty smart, but it's become a problem for Toyota's upcoming production fuel cell vehicle, as the mechanism that prevents electric shocks in low-speed crashes will apparently simply keep Toyota's car from even functioning.
Instead of the federally approved system, Bloomberg reports that Toyota plans to insulate the high-voltage wires and cables in the car, along with shielding electrical components like the fuel cells, electric motor and batteries with (presumably non-conductive) metal barriers.
Toyota Camry incentives and fleet sales cranked to keep sales crown, insiders worried
Mon, 01 Jul 2013We've been watching for some time now as Toyota has piled more incentives on the hood of its Camry sedan, and Automotive News reports that the we're not the only ones with raised eyebrows. The current Camry hasn't even been on the market for two years, but the family sedan segment is more hotly contested than it has been in years. It's that high level of competition that has led the automaker to uncharacteristically add more money on the hood in order to assure it maintains its long-held title of America's Best-Selling Car, a mantle it has owned for a dozen years. It's ramping up fleet sales, too.
According to the analysts at TrueCar, Toyota has bumped incentives per unit every month this year, now totaling some $2,750 as of May, a 38-percent hike over this time last year. That's more spiff money than the segment's other best sellers, the Nissan Altima ($2,400), Ford Fusion ($2,300) and Honda Accord ($1,400), all of whom have actually decreased their incentive spend by 20- to 40-percent over the same period.
The ramp up in incentive spending and fleet sales has analysts concerned that Toyota will tarnish the Camry's historically sterling resale value. ALG pegs the 2013 Camry's current 36-month residual value at 54.4 percent, well ahead of the segment average's 50.9 percent (but shy of the Accord's 55.6 percent). However, analysts are concerned that as the current generation ages, their resale values will eventually plummet if incentives continue to increase as Toyota looks to keep the Camry's best-selling car crown going forward.
2014 Toyota Tundra to debut at Chicago Auto Show
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The fullsize pickup market is dominated by trucks from Ford, General Motors and Ram, but this segment could get some hefty competition in coming years. We've already reported that Nissan is planning a redesign of its Titan truck for 2015, and now Toyota has announced that it will be revealing the 2014 Tundra next month at the Chicago Auto Show.
In the brief press release posted below, Toyota says that the 2014 Tundra will be "redesigned," but it's unclear as to whether this means we'll be seeing an all-new truck or just an extensive refresh. The current Tundra design has been around since 2007 and sales are hardly worrisome to the Big Three, so a new design would be a logical guess.
In any case, we only have to wait a couple more weeks for the new Tundra to debut on February 7, and we'll be on hand to bring you plenty of live coverage from the show.
