Up for bid is a 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser.  It only has 187914 original miles. The motor is a straight 6 cylinder with a carburetor. It is a 4 X 4, 4 speed manual transmission with free - wheeling hubs.  Some of the added features are:  Air-Conditioning (that works great), Pioneer CD player with radio, rear defroster, rear window washer, headlight washer, tachometer, tilt steering wheel, Power Steering, trailer hitch, fold down rear seat to create more cargo space.  All of the glass is good with no cracks.  The front tires have approximately 50% to 60% of tread left.  One of the rear tires has approximately 60% of tread left and one has approximately 90% of tread left.  The original owners manual is included with vehicle.  The Land Cruiser drives fine with no problems and everything works.  There was some body work done on the drivers side rear fender and approximately a 18" X 6" section of body putty is coming loose.  There is a rear hub cover that is missing. There is some cracking on the dashboard, the drivers seat has some wear on the left edge and the passenger seat has a couple of very small holes. Overall this is a very nice dependable vehicle that will provide you with many years of driving pleasure.

I have tried to describe the Cruiser as best as I could, but if you have any specific questions feel free to email me.

Thanks for looking.

GT Academy returns, and why Gran Turismo 6 demands a pedal/wheel setup

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

The path to become a racing driver is a difficult one. It requires starting early, with karts, and then building up through the years and if you're really, really good (and really, really lucky), a team will notice you and sign you up. Or, you know, you could just become really good at Gran Turismo, and beat out other like-minded fanatics for a seat in the GT Academy.
The racing school, which culls its students from the ranks of Gran Turismo players has already pumped out successful racers, most notably, Lucas Ordoñez, who has a second and third-place finish under his belt at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With the 2014 GT Academy kicking off April 21 and running through June 16, you could have a chance to be the next Ordoñez.
That won't be easy, though. We recently had a playthrough on GT6 the proper way - with a racing seat, pedals and a steering wheel, complete with column-mounted paddles. (Our setup looked just like the one you see above, though that image is from E3.) In other words, it was as close to driving an actual car as most console games can get.

Toyota nudges US sales projections up to 2.25M

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Toyota has raised its expectations for 2013's US sales for the third time since the end of 2012. The new target rests at 2.25 million units, when sales of Toyota, Lexus and Scion are taken as one. Subtracting Lexus, Toyota is still expecting to move over two million vehicles in the US by the end of 2013.
According to a report from Automotive News, the sales expectations came from Bob Carter, senior VP of automotive operations for Toyota USA, during a dealers during a meeting in Atlanta. The heightened expectations go along with Toyota's predictions for the US market as a whole, which it expects to grow to 15.5 million units by the end of 2013.
Besides an overall, national uptick in new vehicle sales, Toyota is also expecting a big push as it puts the next-generation Corolla to market during the second half of this year, along with the Tundra pickup truck. Meanwhile, dealers were shown images of a refreshed Camry, set to arrive in 2015, and reported that it's "more than a nip and a tuck," according to the AN report.

Toyota delves into the history of its Land Cruiser

Fri, 06 Sep 2013

One of the longest-produced, most widely distributed vehicles in all of automotive history is also one of its most rugged: the Toyota Land Cruiser. With 60 years of continuous production, 14 different model lines and thousands of variations of the Jeep-like sports utility vehicle, the Land Cruiser became a success worldwide and developed a cult following among enthusiasts here in the US.
We'll be the first to admit that tracing the vehicle's lineage from its humble beginnings as a prototype for Japan's National Police Reserve in 1951 to what it is today isn't an easy task, especially when one considers that the types of Land Cruisers produced traditionally have varied from market to market. For example, the Land Cruiser sold in the US is very different from the US-only 40 series Land Cruiser-inspired FJ Cruiser, which is itself different from the Land Cruiser Prado sold in other world markets.
To cover the Land Cruiser's sixty-plus year history from start to present, someone over at Toyota UK was thoughtful enough to devote a plus-size blog post to it. It's worth a read if you have a spare 10 or 15 minutes - and even if you don't, you can check out our historical gallery above. Enjoy!
