1980 Toyota Land Cruiser on 2040-cars
Pena Blanca, New Mexico, United States
Absolutely beautiful 1980 BJ40 Toyota Landcruiser with 4 spd manual and
2B 3.2L, indestructible Toyota Diesel Engine. The odometer currently shows approximately 150,000 km (turned over
once) which comes out to approximately 93,000 original miles. This may change because I do drive it some for fun
and because it is the most reliable vehicle I own. The truck has absolutely no rust anywhere and was resprayed in
its original Toyota Red color in 2014. This was a frame off repaint and the truck had very little rust at the time
so there was no need to replace body panels-just to primer, sand, and paint. The paint job is not perfect, but it
does look beautifully renewed and shines in the mid-day New Mexico sun. The instrument cluster, seats, switches,
wiring, door lock hardware, windshield wipers, windshield sprayer, fuse panel, wiring, taillights, license plate,
axels, transmission, frame, motor, and various other parts are all original. Some of the ancillary accessory parts
such as turn signals, hood latches, sun visors, and some other wear items are replacement items sourced as Toyota
OEM, mostly new old stock, sometimes used. Comes with a Toyota Landcruiser original 3-piece floor mat for the front
seats.
This truck has been sorted and gone through and it drives and rides great. It sits at the original ride height on
original leaf springs and shackles. The shocks were replaced at some point in the past. The wheels are Toyota OEM
15" steel wheels with Toyota hubcaps. The tires are brand new as the old ones were showing signs of dry rot and
cracking. This is a beautiful, nearly show truck, that you will absolutely love.

Legal approach in $1.2 billion Toyota settlement could impact handling of GM recall cases
Wed, 26 Mar 2014In the past, if an automaker did something wrong, they were usually prosecuted by the US government through something called the TREAD Act. Short for Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation Act, it basically requires automakers to report recalls in other countries, along with any and all serious injuries or deaths, to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Failing to report or attempting to conceal anything when there's been a death or serious injury constitutes a criminal liability. The idea is that this setup puts the onus on manufacturers to keep NHTSA apprised of safety related issues before they become a problem in the US, thereby allowing the regulator to better protect consumers.
In theory, it sounds like a relatively airtight set of rules for dealing with misbehaving automakers. That didn't stop the US Department of Justice from ignoring TREAD in its prosecution of Toyota's handling of the unintended acceleration recall, though. The result of this new approach, which charged Toyota with wire fraud, was a $1.2 billion settlement. Now, the wire-fraud approach could be used for the expected case between the US government and General Motors, based on the statements of Attorney General Eric Holder, who specifically mentioned "similarly situated companies" when discussing Toyota.
Meet the Most Elegant Automobile, and it's for sale
Sat, 08 Jun 2013Alright, so maybe "most elegant" is a bit of a stretch, but we feel safe in calling the 1992 Toyota Paseo in the video below an "automobile." High praise, we know. Still, it's clear someone loves the awkward little coupe enough to produce a hilarious video to sell the thing. Henry Floyd worked up a quick parody of the over-the-top luxury car ads we all know and loathe, and while the finished product is a little skimpy on details like price or location, it certainly doesn't hold back on the exposition.
Hell, if we didn't already have a parade of horrible ideas floating around our collective driveways, we might even be convinced to give this little heap a new home. You can check out the ad for yourself below, just don't be surprised if you find yourself with a burning desire to own a Paseo.
2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport
Tue, 16 Apr 2013"Oh yeah, Toyota still makes the Tacoma." Admit it, that's what you just said to yourself. It's a perfectly natural reaction, but the Tacoma has been quietly anchoring its segment for years, outselling every other compact pickup without making too much of a fuss. Toyota hasn't neglected the Tacoma - it was updated in 2012 with a revised nose and interior as the most noteable changes.
In a world awash with high-value fullsize pickups all vying for your attention, the Tacoma still charms more than a few buyers out of their cash. I hooked a Tacoma for a week to see whether it still has enough to recommend it.
