1976 FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser - 80,000 Miles - Original 2F Engine

This Cruiser has journeyed from the West through Middle America to Oklahoma and finally has arrived in Arkansas.  Purchased on Craigslist from a gentleman who buys 6-8 FJ's per year for restoration, this vintage off-roader has been meticulously inspected for mechanical issues.  $2,800 invested engine and drivetrain improvements.  My mechanic has been in business for close to 40 years and has a reputation in town for making sure that vehicles are in more than reliable condition to travel the road.  Strong engine and a great daily driver that starts with every turn of the key.  Rebuilt front suspension, breaks and tune-up completed.  Transmission, clutch, 4 WD, wipers and all lights in good working condition. Front and jump seats are in good condition.

More than happy to answer any questions, just email me.  I can provide additional photos via email.  Vehicle for sale locally.  I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  Thank you, but not interested in low offers.

This is a great FJ.  I purchased it with a plan for full restoration.  Hate to see it go.  However, wife says we need to pay for the kid's education first.

Happy Bidding!!!

"Thank you for the questions and compliment on the FJ. The emission components are not intact and Arkansas does not required vehicle inspection. Original paint and engine components with the exception of electronic fuel pump, aftermarket air cleaner, and rearview mirrors. No aftermarket power steering or A/C has been installed. Additional photos available upon request, just message me your email address. With the exception of price, reserve price, or price listed locally, please ask any as many questions as you desire thru eBay. I will due my best to answer or address concerns."

Judge halts Toyota unintended acceleration cases, triggers time for settlement negotiations

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

So far, the lawsuits brought forth against Toyota for unintended acceleration have gone both ways: the automaker was found not at fault in a 2009 California crash and liable for a 2007 crash in Oklahoma. Both cases involved a Camry and resulted in fatalities. With a big chunk of these UA cases (around 200) set to his the docket of US District Judge James V. Selna in Santa Ana, California, Bloomberg is reporting that the judge has halted the lawsuits until March after Toyota and its lawyers have had extra time to try and settle the cases.
According to the article, Toyota is looking to take care of the cases out of court with an "intensive settlement process." Having already paid out $1.6 billion in "economic loss" suits, this latest settlement process is aimed at the wrongful death and personal injury cases allegedly associated with unintended acceleration. A hearing for the settlements will be held on January 14 with conferences on the matter commencing in February. There is no word as to when lawsuits may start back up if settlements can't be agreed upon.

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.

NHTSA investigating 561k Toyota Prius hybrids for possible steering shaft defect

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

The Detroit News is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will investigate some 561,000 Toyota Prius models for potentially defective steering shafts. The affected hybrid models are from the 2004-2009 model years. The story indicates that NHTSA is weighing whether or not to grant a defect petition, which claims that Toyota incorrectly assembled the hatchback's steering linkage.
As of this writing, there is no recall. However, a recall based on the Prius steering shaft would be the third related to steering issues for the model since 2006. Seven years ago, Toyota recalled 170K Prius models for potential cracking of the intermediate shafts, and in November of 2012, the automaker recalled 670K units to replace the steering shaft extension assembly.
We'll be monitoring NHTSA's signals to see if this investigation turns into a full-fledged recall. For now, stay tuned.
