1971 Toyota FJ 40 Landcruiser. I bought this FJ40 1 1/2 years ago when I lived in California but things changed and I never ended up using it.  I ended up having to retire and moving to Arizona. I trailered it to Arizona and it’s been in my garage ever since.

This cruiser was professionally built from the frame up. Here’s a list of all the work that has been done to it.

1991 Chevrolet 5.0 fuel injected engine

Chevrolet 4 speed transmission

Aftermarket twin shift transfer case (I can’t remember the brand)

Power steering

Electric cooling fan

Spring over conversion

35” tires 85% tread left

I think the front axle is from a Toyota truck but I’m not positive.

Rancho RS9000XL adjustable shocks all around

Front disc brakes

Adjustable proportioning valve on the master cylinder

Hunsaker seats. The driver's side seat adjuster is broken. The seat does not adjust.

Corbeau 3 point harnesses

JVC stereo cd player with amplifier

Custom speaker box

Full roll cage

Locking Tuffy center console box with cup holders

Lots of stainless steel allen bolts

Optima battery

I’m sure that I am missing a lot of other things but you get the idea. The truck starts right up and runs great. It doesn’t smoke and there are no leaks. It needs nothing. This truck was done right. Drive any other V8 Fj40 conversion and then drive this one. It doesn’t wander and goes down the road straight and true.

The paint has some flaking and the passenger side front fender is in rough shape. It looks like it had some really bad body work and then was painted black. There is a small rust spot above the rear drivers side fender. There is some surface rust here and there but that’s it. Look at the photos. The frame is rust free. Even the usual FJ40 rust spots have no rust. The rear corners under the diamond plate, the rear tailgate doors, the area below the tailgates, and the floors are rust free.

All gauges work except for the oil pressure gauge, the odometer, and the speedometer. Everything else works. Lights, horn wipers, heater, etc. all work.

There is no top or doors included!

I have tried to describe this vehicle as accurately as possible.  However, it is over 40 years old and is sold as is and doesn’t come with any warranty of any kind.

It has always been garaged, never left outside. The registration is current and I have the clear Arizona title for it. The FJ40 is located in Western Arizona. I will gladly answer any questions but please read the entire ad first. if I don’t get back to you in a few days then the answer to your question is in the description. I cannot ship but I will help with shipping at your cost in any way I can. Please do not bid if you can't pay. All non-paying bidders will be reported to E-Bay. Sold to citizens of the United States only – no exceptions.  A non refundable PayPal deposit of $1000.00 is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction, with the remaining due in 7 days. I will not release the truck until I have the entire payment, no exceptions. I will not accept trades so please don't ask. I accept Paypal or cash only!! Good luck!

Toyota Avalon celebrates 20 years with Touring Sport Edition

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Toyota Avalon may not have the sportiest image on the market. Heck, it doesn't even have the sportiest image in the Toyota lineup. But the Japanese automaker is out to fix that perception, at least a little bit, with the launch of the new Touring Sport Edition.
Announced together with some minor updates to the entire Avalon line - consisting primarily of enhanced safety and infotainment systems - the Avalon XLE Touring Sport Edition celebrates the 20th anniversary of Toyota's large sedan line. Setting this special edition apart are a black paintjob, HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloys (similar in design to those on the Scion FR-S) and an interior decked out with perforated leather with dark blue trim... plus, of course, the requisite special badges inside and out.
Only 2,500 units will be offered with a $37,170 sticker price that puts it near (if not quite at) the top of the Avalon range that's capped by the $41,700 Avalon Hybrid Limited. Pricing has increased on most models by around two percent, and you can scope out all the details of the updates to the full range in the press releases below.

Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.

This first-gen Toyota Celica is one mean mother

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

Brian Karasawa's gen-one Toyota Celica is, in a word, badass. As a long-standing fan of the marque, the doting owner has tried to both restore and improve his Celica keeping period-correct modifications in mind. The 20R/22R mashup engine is outputting roughly 185 horsepower and graced with a lot of JDM-specific parts and modifications. Clearly, the exhaust has been upgraded from stock, as clips of the orange Toyota in motion are accompanied by one hell of a nice sound.
Tastes clearly vary, and there's not as much love for the first-wave of Japanese metal as there is for similar era American-iron, but we're pleased to see these cars finally getting more time in the spotlight. Scroll down below to see why we're stoked, and consider cruising your local Craigslist for late 1970s and early 1980s Japanese coolness (before we get there first).
