Up for auction is a 1966 Toyota Landcruiser I had shipped to New York less than a year ago from Arizona. I have been interested in owning one of these for years and this one was set-up just the way I wanted it. However, due to time constraints I will not be able to go any further with it and will sell it. I will post many pictures and will describe as accurately as I can it's condition. The Toyota has no rust at all and is wearing what is left of it's "sand" colored original paint which has been sprayed over a little bit. The hardtop roof was a light green, now white. The chrome is in excellent condition and just needs a cleaning. The glass is good aside from the driver's door glass. The body is in exceptional condition, with perfect floors, rockers etc, that you would expect from a desert car.

New Toyota semiconductors could increase hybrid fuel efficiency by 10%
Wed, 21 May 2014Toyota may have an ace up its sleeve in the fuel economy wars, as it's developed a new type of semiconductor that will allegedly help the company's hybrids net a ten-percent improvement in fuel economy.
The tech is still in development, although Toyota is already reporting five-percent gains during testing, six years before it plans to implement the new semiconductor in production vehicles, meaning the ten-percent improvement doesn't seem like an untenable goal. That is, until you hear from Kimimori Hamada, the project general manager of Toyota's electronics division.
"We are aiming for great improvement in fuel economy and miniaturization," Hamada told Automotive News. "This is a very challenging target."
Fuel cells will flop outside Japan, says VW
Fri, 12 Sep 2014
"It may fly within Japan, but not globally," VW's Shoji said.
It's long been battered into our beleaguered auto writer brains that the ultimate future source of motivation for tomorrow's cars and trucks is not gasoline, diesel, electricity, natural gas, propane or solar power - it's the hydrogen fuel cell. It's been the Next Big Thing since the start of Next Big Things.
BMW-Toyota sports car heading towards Tokyo debut
Mon, 20 May 2013Earlier this year, BMW and Toyota confirmed a four-part joint venture mostly focusing on increasing improving vehicle efficiency using fuel cells, lightweight materials and better battery technology. Also tucked into the announcement was a "feasibility study" for a shared platform to underpin a future midsize "sports vehicle."
In terms of the latter, it seems that things have stepped up from the feasibility stage to the conceptual stage, as Motor Trend reports we could see a pair of new sports car concepts debut later this year in at the Tokyo Motor Show. There isn't much information about the new program, but the article suggests the sports cars could be all-wheel drive hybrids, with electric motors powering the front wheels and a gas engine powering the rear wheels. While a partnership between Toyota and BMW might not lend itself to a catchy portmanteau like "Toyobaru," here's hoping it will bear fruit that is as exciting as the ones produced by the Toyota/Subaru tie up.
