1964 Toyota Fj40 Landcruiser on 2040-cars
Redding, California, United States
1964 Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser. Engine is early model Chevrolet 350 V-8 with Edelbrock off-road carburetor. Has a Turbo 350 automatic transmission mated to a landcruiser 4-wheel drive gear box. Disc brakes on all 4 wheels. Power steering conversion. Dual fuel tanks. 15 x 10 Mickey Thompson aluminum alloy wheels with 33 x 12.50 Super Swamper tires with good tread (spare is a brand new 33 x 12.50 uniroyal mud terrain tire). Comes with original hard doors, sides and upper tailgate portion for the top (flat black in color), the original roof was unrepairable and gone. The cruiser has surface rust in a few spots and rust damage where Fj40s are prone to on the rear portion of the tub. And a box full of assorted FJ40 new and used parts along with a couple Haynes auto repair manuals. Vehicle is in running condition but could use some carb adjustment and a tune up. Speedometer / odometer is not working, but will throw in a garmin vehicle GPS that I use for telling approximate speed. Has a CD /FM/AM with ipod jack stereo and wiring for speakers is still in place but speakers were worn out from summertime heat and currently has no speakers. I've had the vehicle since 1992 and was my daily driver up until 2002. Since 2002 it has been mostly trailered to my off-road destinations.
Buyer responsible for pick-up / shipping. Vehicle is used and there are dings and scratches--it is a four wheel drive vehicle from 1964 and a classic. Vehicle is being sold as is. Thanks for looking. |

This first-gen Toyota Celica is one mean mother
Tue, 09 Jul 2013Brian Karasawa's gen-one Toyota Celica is, in a word, badass. As a long-standing fan of the marque, the doting owner has tried to both restore and improve his Celica keeping period-correct modifications in mind. The 20R/22R mashup engine is outputting roughly 185 horsepower and graced with a lot of JDM-specific parts and modifications. Clearly, the exhaust has been upgraded from stock, as clips of the orange Toyota in motion are accompanied by one hell of a nice sound.
Tastes clearly vary, and there's not as much love for the first-wave of Japanese metal as there is for similar era American-iron, but we're pleased to see these cars finally getting more time in the spotlight. Scroll down below to see why we're stoked, and consider cruising your local Craigslist for late 1970s and early 1980s Japanese coolness (before we get there first).
Toyota SEMA cars include Tundra for Baja and wacky DUB Edition Yaris
Tue, 28 Oct 2014Toyota has released the first images of its brigade of concepts for the 2014 SEMA Show, introducing a trio of TRD-fettled off-roaders, a pair of DUB-inspired models, a race-ready pickup and a Sienna minivan with 48 inches worth of subwoofers.
Four of the vehicles being shown by Toyota will take part in the grueling Baja 1000 off-road race. The star of that effort will be a race-prepared Tundra, which will actually be competing from November 12 to 16 in the 47th running of the desert race. It'll be supported by a trio of vehicles, which mimics Toyota's TRD Pro Series production vehicles, with the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra all acting as support vehicles.
Each of these vehicles has been fabricated by the off-road specialists at N-Fab and comes loaded down with communications and guidance equipment, additional lights and off-road body modifications.
New Toyota semiconductors could increase hybrid fuel efficiency by 10%
Wed, 21 May 2014Toyota may have an ace up its sleeve in the fuel economy wars, as it's developed a new type of semiconductor that will allegedly help the company's hybrids net a ten-percent improvement in fuel economy.
The tech is still in development, although Toyota is already reporting five-percent gains during testing, six years before it plans to implement the new semiconductor in production vehicles, meaning the ten-percent improvement doesn't seem like an untenable goal. That is, until you hear from Kimimori Hamada, the project general manager of Toyota's electronics division.
"We are aiming for great improvement in fuel economy and miniaturization," Hamada told Automotive News. "This is a very challenging target."
