True GT-S with AE88 VIN. Factory LSD. Clean title. Has light surface rust underside of hood and in trunk area (typical of AE86). Very small separation on front seats (typical of AE86). There is a thumbnail sized rust spot on the front of the driver rear wheel well. Overall very good condition inside and out. It was repainted professionally with factory color years ago and the shine is still beautiful and has no unsightly overspray or poor tape lines. Starts, runs and drives great with no smoke or hesitation . The suspension and steering are still tight and the car feels new when driven. Under 158k miles. In the last 2 years the heater core and fuel pump were replaced. The heat works great and A/C is cold. Everything on the car works great. I believe the only parts that are not factory are the SR5 shift knob and the Sony CD player and Polk speakers front and rear. Has black/gray interior and the dash is flawless with no cracks. Watch Congress sample Toyota's i-Road 3-wheeler concept
Fri, 11 Apr 2014Toyota brought its new i-Road, a three-wheeled, all-electric low-speed vehicle that debuted in 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show, to the Capitol for some of our elected officials to test out. As easy as it is to forget that politicians are people, too, it was refreshing to see a human side to many of them as they zipped about one of the Capitol's many meeting rooms.
We'd say their reactions were surprisingly positive. Of course, some were just down there because Toyota is a big presence in their respective districts, but the bulk of the senators and representatives seemed like they just wanted to zip about the makeshift indoor course on the leaning trike.

Toyota brings TRD Griffon GT86 to Goodwood [w/video]
Fri, 12 Jul 2013In the midst of the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, there's a particularly special Toyota running up the hill. This special entry is a GT86 (the cousin to our Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ) that's been poked, prodded, and tweaked by the minds at Toyota Racing Development. The result of TRD's fettling is a nearly race-ready car.
Starting with the body, the hood, doors, trunk lid, and wings are all made of carbon fiber. The lightweight treatment doesn't end there, though. The bumpers, fenders, and diffuser all feature carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, while the windows are now made of polycarbonate plastic.
Under the hood sits the same 2.0-liter boxer engine found in the standard GT86, but its six-speed manual gearbox features a shorter final drive ratio for improved acceleration. The coilover suspension has been firmed up, and a TRD mechanical limited-slip differential replaces the Torsen unit. The TRD Griffon rides on TWS 18-inch wheels and Yokohama Advan tires. To bring proceedings to a stop, TRD has fitted its own mono-block caliper kit, complete with more robust racing pads.
Jay Leno gets behind the curtain on the design of the Toyota FT-1 concept
Mon, 07 Apr 2014Hinting at the future of Toyota performance vehicles, the FT-1 concept was one of the stars of the Detroit Auto Show this year. It even nabbed fourth place in our Editors' Choice list. While he's a few months behind the car's official reveal, Jay Leno managed to get the only existing concept of the sports coupe wheeled into his garage to take a closer look, and he's pretty impressed.
Leno speaks with Alex Shen and William Chergosky, the exterior and interior chief designers of the FT-1 respectively, to get a better idea of the inspirations behind the concept. Jay heaps high praise on it for mixing Italian and Japanese design and says he likes the look even more than the Lexus LFA. The coupe isn't a product of either country, though. It was penned at Toyota's CALTY Design Research center in Newport Beach, CA.
The designers go into the entire history of the FT-1, and Shen even admits that Toyota design lacks an emotional factor at the moment. It's a fascinating interview behind some of the little touches you might miss at first glance. Unfortunately, the model doesn't have the green light for production yet and may never get made.
