1996 Toyota Corolla Dx Sedan 4-door 1.8l on 2040-cars
Fair Lawn, New Jersey, United States
This car has a clean Carfax and I am only the second
owner. It was always dealer serviced and never in an accident. There are no
rips or tears in the seats, and no stains anywhere, nor any cracks in the dash
or door panels. This has also always been a non-smoker’s car. It runs and
drives like a three year old car; you can't even tell that it has 255,000+
miles on the chassis. This can partially be attributed to the engine having
been replaced 38,000 miles ago with an identical engine that had about 88,000
miles, so this motor only has about 128,000 miles on it now. With the engine the radiator, all the filters, and a water
pump were also replaced and a full tune-up was done. About 500 miles ago the
front brake rotors and pads were replaced with new drilled and slotted rotors
and semi-metallic pads, and a full adjustment was done of all the brakes. The
alternator was replaced with a new one a couple years ago when the old one
died, and all four tires are basically new, with about 5000 miles on the rear
two and 1000 on the front two. Besides that, I added two remotes that control
the door locks electrically, and also can remote start the engine. The radio
was replaced with a Clarion receiver that has AM/FM, Bluetooth, a single
CD slot, plus a remote and removable face-plate, and all four
speakers were replaced with new ones. Everything in it works well, and no one would have any problem driving it under
any conditions and over any distance. The
car will regularly get 34 MPG on the highway, and will cruise at 70 MPH all day.
The car is fully serviced, needs nothing, and is ready to go with no extra money
having to be spent on anything. Please notice the Autocheck score for cars like this is within the range of 11-31, and this car scores a 40...this should tell you that this is the car to buy! |

Toyota again claims Corolla outsold Focus worldwide
Wed, 10 Apr 2013Toyota isn't convinced the Ford Focus was the best-selling nameplate globally last year. Bloomberg reports that for the second time in seven months, both Toyota and Ford are laying claim to the title. Ford cites R.L. Polk & Co. data that says the automaker moved some 1.02 million Focus models in 2012 compared to just 872,774 Toyota Corolla units. But Toyota says the actual figure is closer to 1.16 million Corolla models.
Last year, Ford said it took the sales crown through the fist half of 2012 based on information from IHS Automotive, but Toyota pointed out those numbers left out models like the Corolla-based Matrix and Auris, as well as the Corolla Fielder and Scion xB-based Corolla Rumion. Whether or not Toyota's belief that all these cars should be counted in the Corolla bucket is accurate or not is seemingly up for debate... as is the question of why it matters so much to both parties.
This time around, Ford is holding the line that the Focus is the "best-selling nameplate," with Erich Merkle, a US sales analyst with Ford saying the company's figure is, "a pure number that is verified by a third party." Toyota, meanwhile, has requested clarification from Polk.
Fewest vehicles ever found eligible for Most American survey
Mon, 30 Jun 2014Once again, the most American car on the market is from an American brand. The Ford F-150 retained its number one spot in Cars.com's annual survey of the most American vehicles, trumping the Toyota Camry, which remains at number two.
Ford taking the top spot is small consolation, though, as the Detroit Three aren't too well represented here. General Motors scored a win at number seven, with the Chevrolet Corvette, while Chrysler squeaked in at number ten, with the Dodge Viper. Outside of those three vehicles, Toyota and Honda dominate the top ten.
What's most remarkable, though, is that there were so few cars available for this year's list.
Toyota sees Camry share loss despite predicting increasing sales
Tue, 02 Apr 2013Toyota may be set to lose share the midsize sedan market. While speaking with Automotive News, Toyota North America CEO Jim Lentz said that if his company kept pace with the current swell in the market for family four doors, Toyota would need to sell around 500,000 Camry models. "I'm not sure we can do much more than 400 [thousand] today," Lentz said.
But that doesn't mean Camry sales are shrinking - on the contrary, Lentz thinks Toyota will likely sell more Camry units in 2013 than it did in 2012, it's just that the company isn't keeping pace with segment's current explosion in popularity. Industry wide, midsized sedan sales have increased by 20 percent. "Are we going to lose [Camry] share? Probably so," Lentz said, "but we will continue to grow in raw volume."
Toyota sold 404,886 Camry units last year, and the company just revised its 2013 sales objective from 2.18 million units earlier this year to 2.2-million plus units, so while things are looking up for the brand and Camry sales may be on the rise, Toyota may not have the muscle to keep up its share in the sedan segment. Whether that's because of a production bottleneck or a predicted sales ceiling isn't clear. We've got a call in and will update this news item if/when we learn more.
