1993 Camry 105k Miles Runs Superbly Power Windows Locks & Sun Roof on 2040-cars

Selling my lovely granny owned (from 0 - 98,000 miles) 93 Toyota Camry, I bought her for likely the same reason you are here now, she's strong reliable and fuel economical,
Some things I'd never expected were how responsive she is, how smooth the ride is, smart cruise control, that she has an Overdrive mode, and a sports mode, and finally how incredibly easy to work on she was.

My partner (a qualified mechanic) has replaced the old battery with a brand new one, replaced the old and fraying alternator belt with a crisp brand new one, replaced the old and weary air filter with a brand new one, replaced the down pipes and exhaust system with completely new parts front to back, The oil and filter have been swapped out for fresh and new.

Yes she may have 105,500 miles on the clock and not be the prettiest but anyone who knows their cars will know this is nowhere near half the lifetime expectancy of a 93 Camry and she has AT LEAST another 10 years to go, Toyota are renowned for being the duracell bunny of the car world and with the least love and attention possible they last forever, my parents still have the same Toyota Hilux they've had for more than 25-30 years and it still hasn't missed a beat.

The love and attention that this lovely car has received from us will see her onwards for at least another 50,000 miles without any consideration (oil change tire check etc) and way beyond, but we would like her to go to a loving home, she never failed us whatever we asked of her and served us a fantastic few months, she doesn't need love and attention but if you can provide it we'd like you to have her.

For anyone wondering why we are selling a car we have grown so attached to it is very simple, we are getting hitched and moving to Europe to live in 3 countries and simply can't take her with us, and believe me we considered it, but my partner already has a car there waiting for us, so we wish you happy bidding and good luck, she's a wonderful car and we will both miss her.

2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Practice Day 3

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

The third practice day of the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is done. While the other classes got running time on the middle and top sections of the course, qualifying times were set on the bottom section of the course for the Open, Open Wheel, Electric, Exhibition and Vintage classes.
Everyone managed to keep it on the black stuff today, Greg Tracy setting the fastest time ahead of Hiroshi Masuoka, both men driving the Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution II four-wheel-drive prototype. Not even half a second behind Masuoka came Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima in his Monster Sport E-Runner, who has taken about 18 seconds off his time since the first practice day. Rod Millen was the fourth fastest on the day in his Toyota TMG EV POO2.
Topping the Open Wheel class was Clint Vahsholtz, followed by Donner Billingsley, Andy Figueroa and Rodney O'Maley. The only driver in that class not to be given a time today was Dan Novembre. Kenshiro Gushi took the Exhibition class today as his Lexus IS F CCS-R made it up the mountain in 4:27.248, followed by Sage Marie in the Honda CR-Z at 5:19.591. Simon Pagenaud and his Honda Odyssey weren't classified.

Toyota announces GT86 CS-R3 rally car

Mon, 11 Nov 2013

Toyota Motorsport GmbH has developed cars for all manner of racing, up to and including Formula One and Le Mans. But it got its start back in 1979 in rally competition, winning four drivers' and three manufacturers' titles in the World Rally Championship. And now it's announced a new rally car.
Based on the Toyota GT86 (better known to us as the Scion FR-S), the CS-R3 rally car isn't built to contest the top tier of the WRC, but is being developed to conform to the lower R3 class. That means a six-speed sequential gearbox, limited slip differential and upgraded engine, brakes, aero... the works. It'll retain the road-going model's rear-drive setup, joining the front-drive Yaris R1A in TMG's portfolio of customer rally cars.
Further details are set to be revealed "in the coming months", but the GT86 CS-R3 will benefit from the experience TMG accrued in developing the GT86 CS-V3 (pictured above) for the Nürburgring-based VLN endurance racing series.

Toyota GT86 turbo, convertible, sedan variants back on the table

Fri, 02 May 2014

Okay Toyota, make up your mind. Figure it out. Quit playing games with our heart. Either build a bunch of variations of the excellent GT86 (also known as the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ) or don't. At this point, we're just tired of the back and forth. After no shortage of denials, an Australian website is claiming that Toyota is reconsidering convertible, four-door, turbocharged and all-wheel-drive hybrid variants of the GT86. Kindly pass all the salt.
It's not that we don't want to believe the Aussies; we do. But when the story lists the same "sources in Japan" as a lot of the other denials and confirmations about GT86/BRZ/FR-S variants, well, there's a certain sense of the "Boy That Cried Wolf," here. Ignoring all that, then, what does Motoring.com.au claim to know?
Sources claim the GT86 Convertible will arrive in October 2014, while the turbocharged and hybrid sedans are slated for 2016.
