Rescue this vehicle! It's in way too nice of shape to stay in Minnesota and rust away!

For sale is a 1995 Toyota 4Runner. This vehicle spent it's entire life between Arizona and North Dakota until last year so it has very little rust. You won't likely find a cleaner one of this era anywhere in the Midwest. This truck is the SR5 V6 (3.0 L) model with a 5 speed manual transmission, power everything including sunroof. Everything works but as with any twenty year old vehicle, it has various cosmetic and a couple of minor mechanical issues. Regarding cosmetic; the drivers seat is torn, there are several small dents throughout the body and small rust spots are beginning to appear but are very minimal. As far a mechanical, the starter should be rebuilt sometime in the near future as it doesn't want to engage every now and then. It's been this way for the year we've owned it and hasn't gotten any worse...should be addressed eventually though. We were told by a local mechanic that the right front wheel bearing requires replacing which is quoted to be a three hundred dollar job. Lastly, the check engine light is currently on but plan to have it scanned prior to sale to see what may be the issue. Besides these few issues, the truck starts, runs and drives like a dream and the 4 wheel drive works flawlessly. The timing belt was changed at 146,000. The rear springs, shocks, and stabilizer bushings, spark plugs/wires, distributor cap, ignition rotor are all new as well as the front cv axles. The tires have deep tread and should be good for many more miles. I would love to hang onto this truck but will be moving to the east coast later this summer and can't justify bringing it out there with us. Let me know of any questions or would like more photos added. If you've spent any time in the western half of our country you'll know these trucks are very sought after due to their reliability, off road abilities and general build quality.

130,000 Toyota Tundra pickups recalled over airbag issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Toyota is announcing a recall for about 130,000 examples of the 2014 Tundra Tundra pickup in Crew-Max Cab and Double Cab configurations.
According to the company, the "garnish on the center pillars" inside the trucks might not have been installed correctly. If the vehicle were in an accident, the side curtain airbags could deploy in the wrong shape. Toyota says that it's not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this potential problem.
To fix the issue, the pickups will have their interior center pillars inspected, and if faulty, the pieces will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. Scroll down to read the full announcement.

Toyota offered $146.5 million to build Lexus ES in Kentucky

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

Toyota posted a media advisory yesterday saying that Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota, and Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota North America, would be making a production announcement tomorrow in New York City, and Automotive News reports that the automaker will be announcing a plan to domestically produce the Lexus ES. According to the report, numerous plants are competing to build the ES in North America, and the State of Kentucky has offered the automaker up to $146.5 million to build the luxury sedan at the Georgetown, KY assembly plant.
If Georgetown gets the ES, which has been built in Japan since its debut in 1989, it would be built alongside the Toyota Camry, which is somewhat ironic since in our review of the 2013 Lexus ES350, we wrote that this ES finally says "goodbye to its Camry roots." In order to get the whole amount offered, the article states that Toyota would have to invest $531.2 million and hire 570 full-time workers at the plant, which doesn't sound all that unreasonable since the plant would require an additional 50,000 units of annual production, not to mention the fact that the Georgetown facility is already at its capacity for building the Camry.

177k Toyota Camry Hybrids being recalled for brake issue

Mon, 11 Aug 2014

It looks like Consumer Reports might be getting part of what it wants regarding the Toyota Camry Hybrid and its braking system. Toyota is issuing what it calls a limited service campaign, rather than a full recall, covering about 177,500 of the hybrid sedans from the 2007 through 2011 model years because of an issue with the cars' brake fluid reservoirs.
The models have a filter separating two chambers of the brake fluid reservoir, and the part can get clogged over time. If this happens, the fluid level in one of the chambers can get too low and eventually cause the power assist to fail. There are multiple warning lights on the dashboard that illuminate over time if the filter gets obstructed, though. The company is replacing the entire reservoir with an improved unit, and the fix takes about two hours to perform.
Consumer Reports recently began asking for a recall on these models for the potentially clogged filters. The magazine also reported a second issue with the ABS brake actuator that could lead to a difficult to depress brake, but Toyota has increased the warranty on the part to 10 years or 150,000 miles.
