For sale: 1965 and 1966 Thoroughbred Fastback reproduction body assemblies. They are identical to factory and are built with pride and craftsmanship here in the U.S. Actually, they are designed, engineered and assembled here in Canfield, OH.

This is the real deal - all steel bodies built to precise specifications. We are a small company in Eastern Ohio and we have spent more than two years getting this product exactly right. We have well over 100k in development costs deconstructing and making fixtures for a product we are proud of.

The skeleton frame of these uni-body cars is the key to a successful build, and ours is perfect - identical to the factory, all fixture assembled and spot welded like the originals.

Why settle for a coupe when you can have a rust free fastback?
Why fight through the rust and mess of a 50 year old car when you can begin with entirely new?

These are brand new, built to order and affordable for almost any budget. We put them into custom pallets for easy shipping, or you can pick up here at our shop and take a look around.
Here are some ways we envisioned the product being used:
  • Restomod - there's no need to cut up a nice original car when all you really need is this sheetmetal. Plus, we can build to order with mini tubs and shock tower deletes.
  • Lightweight - we can supply the car as just the skeleton as a frame to hang fiberglass on.
  • Racer - Autocross or track car, there's no rust to repair and no fear of damaging an original
  • Stock - want a new 1965? Everything is available new to build the car you didn't get to buy 50 years ago
  • TV and Movie studios - excellent vehicles for production as there are limitless vehicles available
  • What would you do with a Thoroughbred?

As we build to order, the price listed is for the vehicle pictured (minus the hood hinges). Want options? Minitubs, shock tower deletes, fenders, hood, paint etc are all available, as are fewer parts than pictured if you want to add a completely custom front clip and/or fiberglass panels. We can issue an MSO with the vehicle depending on your state. Getting a clean and clear title is not a problem. We ship nationwide and overseas.

* Not affiliated with the Ford Motor Company. Mustang is a trademark of the Ford Motor Company. The quarter panels on this product are installed at a professional body shop.

205k Suzuki models being investigated for airbag sensor issue

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

The Detroit News is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation on the 2006-11 Suzuki Grand Vitara and 2007-11 Suzuki SX4 due to issues with the airbag and seatbelt for the front passenger seat. So far, NHTSA has received 128 complaints on these vehicles for airbag warning lights, airbag off lights and seatbelt lights, on a vehicle set that totals around 205,000 units, but there is no indication as to how many, if any, injuries have reported.
Via technical service bulletins, Suzuki has already acknowledged two airbag-related issues with front passenger seats on both vehicles, including a programming error for the passenger seat load indicator on 2009 models and an open-circuit problem for the sensor mat that determines if an adult or child is sitting in the front seat. Since this latter issue would not shut off or lessen the impact of the passenger airbag, Suzuki has already extended the warranty for the seat cushion bottom to 10 years or 120,000 miles. After ceasing new-car sales in the US and Canada, potential recall repairs (which still may or may not happen) would be handled by remaining dealers as laid out in the recent court-approved bankruptcy plan.

American Suzuki gets $100M in financing to go out of business... buy more cars?

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC), which declared bankruptcy in early November, has been approved by the courts for up to $100 million in debtor-in-possession financing to enable it to shutter its US car business. ASMC had received a $45 million loan from the Japanese parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), last month in order to make repayment deals with its franchise dealers. At the same time, ASMC was awaiting final court approval of this larger loan.
Out of the newly approved funds, $50 million can be used for operations, and oddly, the other $50 million can be put toward purchases of new inventory from SMC. That's right, even as existing inventory was headed for a smooth exit with the help of incentives, customer demand for orphan Suzuki models is so strong - last month's sales were up 22 percent compared to 2011 - that ASMC plans to purchase 2,500 additional cars from SMC that were built after the bankruptcy announcement. Good news for the owners of those vehicles: the top 50 dealers, representing more than 98 percent of ASMC sales, will become parts and services centers.
The press release below has more information. Unlike its recent tenure here, the end of Suzuki cars in the US looks like it's going rather well.

Court approves Suzuki bankruptcy plan

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

Suzuki has won approval for its Chapter 11 plan to stop selling cars in the US and concentrate instead on the company's powersports products. Judge Scott C. Clarkson of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California approved the plan after the company's creditors agreed to the conditions.
Suzuki will now sell its motorcycle, ATV and marine divisions to the newly minted Suzuki Motor of America subsidiary under the Suzuki name. The new company will be wholly owned by Suzuki Motor Company. This is the final piece of the company's restructuring puzzle.
The company says it will now be able to grow its powersports businesses here in the US and also provide auto parts and service to current Suzuki owners through what's left of the company's dealer network. You can check out the brief press release on the bankruptcy plan below.
