I'm selling my 1987 suzuki samurai. This was my project for a couple years. It was stripped down for a frame off re-build. I installed a Rocky Road coil spring kit that i modified slighty with longer springs to give more lift. It also has a 2" body lift. The frame and components were coated with herculiner. I then installed a rebuilt mazda 12a rotary motor and 5spd transmission.  It has a Racing Beat header and intake and a Holley off-road 470 cfm carb. The distibutor is new and has a MSD 6 off-road box and high vibration coils. It has 3" stainless exhaust with cat and Racing Beat pre-silencer and muffler. The transfer case is new from Trail gear with 6:5 to 1 crawler gears, heavy duty input shaft and twisted t shifter mod. The front rear was rebuilt and locker installed with 5.38 gears,Spidertrax 26 spline axles and Warn locking hubs. The back rear is a dana 41 with welded gears and 5.38 gears.(I also have the matchining Dana 25 front rear with matching 5.38 gears that will be included.) It has disc brakes on all corners. The front and rear driveshafts were made by Tom Woods. It has a Toyota power steering box and Trail gear pump with cooler. It has a Davesport rollcage. I also made heavy duty bumpers with tow points and installed them. It has a 20 gallon fuel cell and rolls on 16/35-15 Super Swamper Boggers and nice aluminum wheels. I'm sure there is more I'm forgetting. It has been a very strong, reliable truck! It is not a daily driver but can be driven on the street to get to the woods. I'm selling so i can start my next project. My loss your gain.

American Suzuki Motors files chapter 11, will no longer sell cars in the United States

Mon, 05 Nov 2012

As much as we knew it was a possibility, we have to say that Suzuki's announcement this afternoon that it is filing chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings caught us a bit off guard. American Suzuki Motor Corporation - the sole distributor of Suzuki automobiles in the United States - will realign its business to focus on motorcycles, ATVs and the marine market.
What does this mean in simple terms? In short, new Suzuki cars and trucks will no longer be sold by Suzuki in the United States once current supplies run out. Period.
Suzuki cites "low sales volumes, a limited number of models in its lineup, unfavorable foreign exchange rates, the high costs associated with growing and maintaining an automotive distribution system in the continental US and the disproportionally high and increasing costs associated with stringent state and federal regulatory requirements unique to the US market."

Suzuki Vitara shows its face ahead of Paris debut

Thu, 28 Aug 2014

The death of Suzuki's American automotive operations can be chalked up to many, many things. One thing it cannot be blamed on, however, is the arguable goodness of its products. The company's criminally underrated offerings included the Kizashi sedan, the SX4 compact and your author's personal favorite, the Grand Vitara.
The GV rode on a radically different version of General Motors' Theta platform, which underpins the American manufacturer's current crop of crossovers, like the Chevrolet Equinox. What made the Grand Vitara special, though, was that it wasn't just another run-of-the-mill CUV. Buying the cheapest model meant living with rear-wheel drive rather than the Theta's typical front drive. Spend a bit of money, though, and you'd end up with an honest-to-goodness off-roader, sporting selectable four-wheel drive complete with low-range gearbox. It also comfortably sat five, was reasonably efficient and was quite handsome. We aren't totally sure how it turned into this.
This, of course, being the new Vitara (it replaces the Escudo, the vehicle Americans know as the Grand Vitara), and it will make its global debut at October's Paris Motor Show, which has ditched its four-wheel-drive system for a part-time all-wheel-drive system called Allgrip.

205k Suzuki models being investigated for airbag sensor issue

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

The Detroit News is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation on the 2006-11 Suzuki Grand Vitara and 2007-11 Suzuki SX4 due to issues with the airbag and seatbelt for the front passenger seat. So far, NHTSA has received 128 complaints on these vehicles for airbag warning lights, airbag off lights and seatbelt lights, on a vehicle set that totals around 205,000 units, but there is no indication as to how many, if any, injuries have reported.
Via technical service bulletins, Suzuki has already acknowledged two airbag-related issues with front passenger seats on both vehicles, including a programming error for the passenger seat load indicator on 2009 models and an open-circuit problem for the sensor mat that determines if an adult or child is sitting in the front seat. Since this latter issue would not shut off or lessen the impact of the passenger airbag, Suzuki has already extended the warranty for the seat cushion bottom to 10 years or 120,000 miles. After ceasing new-car sales in the US and Canada, potential recall repairs (which still may or may not happen) would be handled by remaining dealers as laid out in the recent court-approved bankruptcy plan.
