The good: 2005 Subaru Outback wagon XT limited with Title in hand.  Automatic transmission.  I'm the 2nd owner of the vehicle, 1st owner had the car in FL from 2005 to 2008.  I purchased it in 10/08 with 26k miles and it's been up in Ma since.  Non-smoker, no accidents, synthetic oil changed every 3500 miles, clear bra, tinted windows, and tow hitch. The back of the wagon also has a floor liner although it's not in the picture.  The car will also come with the roof racks and cross members.  Car was used to bring my kids out and about so the interior might come with some milk/juice stains. ;)
  • 30k and 60k service done at Somerset subaru in Somerset, Ma.
  • Banjo bolt was replaced when I first got the car and I just replaced it again before listing the car (filters the oil going into the turbo).
  • New rear struts and coils done around 60k miles.
  • New hub and wheel bearing assembly on rear axle (TSB and performed at Somerset subaru).
  • New rotors (centric) and ceramic pads (Akebono) just put on last week.

The ugly: The car has a small dent on the rear driver side door from me dropping my mountain bike.  Thought I had it strapped on the roof rack but apparently not and fell right on my noggin and the pedal nick the door.  The driver window controller button is a little tight and sticky but works just fine.  The passenger side front bumper has a scrape on the clear bra but that will be buffed out before selling the car.  You will need new tires.  The bridgestone on this car is awful.

The car will come as pictured, however I will be including the following items: 1) full interior detail (wash and vac the carpets and upholstery)  2) Weathertech floor liner.  Last time I looked it was $179 dollars but it's the best floor mat you can get.

Questions are welcomed.

2015 Subaru Outback

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

Realistically, many enthusiasts give horrible, horrible car buying advice. They will recommend something bizarre, inappropriately high performance, compromised or utterly impractical for a given consumer's needs, and they'll almost never recommend something that makes sense. And then they'll come up with 3.7 million reasons why the leading vehicle someone is thinking about is a bad choice.
Or maybe that's just what I do.
Regardless, if you poke, prod, bother or just get us drunk enough, eventually you'll begin getting honest feedback. And more than likely, we'll tell you, in hushed tones, about the many virtues of very, very boring cars. We'll talk about why the Toyota Camry is actually a pretty decent purchase or we'll explain how spacious and feature laden the Nissan Versa is.

2015 Subaru Outback wading into NY show fray

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

The current-generation Subaru Outback was never going to win any beauty contests with its blend of rugged SUV looks and station wagon design. Still, it's found lots of fans - even five years after its launch, the Outback was Subaru's second-highest selling model in 2013. With the reveal of the next-generation 2015 Legacy at the Chicago Auto Show, it should be no surprise that Car and Driver says Subaru will reveal the next Outback at the New York Auto Show in April.
If previous generations are any indication, the next Outback will likely borrow liberally from the new Legacy, including its platform and engines. In addition to its five-door, station wagon design, the Outback will almost assuredly feature added body cladding and a higher ride height than the Legacy. Subaru's big push with the new Legacy will be to improve interior quality and comfort with liquid-filled engine mounts, an acoustic glass windshield, increased sound deadening, new infotainment systems and new safety tech. All of these will probably appear in the Outback as well.
After its rumored New York reveal, the 2015 Outback is expected to go on sale around the same time as the new Legacy in the summer of 2014.

Subaru facing class-action suit over excess oil use

Tue, 22 Jul 2014

A recently filed lawsuit in federal court against Subaru of America and its parent Fuji Heavy Industries claims that several recent models burn an excessive amount of oil. The case, which is seeking class-action status, covers examples of the 2011-2014 Forester, 2013 Legacy and 2013 Outback with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and the 2012-2013 Impreza and 2013 XV Crosstrek with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
The suit alleges that Subaru knew about the excessive oil consumption but didn't fix the problem, according to USA Today. It contends that owners have to spend an unreasonable amount of money to keep these models topped up with Texas tea, and that the people represented wouldn't have bought the vehicle if they had known that this could happen.
As proof of Subaru's knowledge of excessive oil use, the lawsuit cites four technical service bulletins from the company telling dealers about the issue, although, that would seem to partially invalidate the claim that the automaker hasn't attempted to fix things. The case was filed on behalf of two men, one with a 2014 Forester and the other with a 2013 Outback. "Following an extensive investigation, we now look forward to litigating the case," said Matthew Schelkopf, an attorney for the plaintiffs, to USA Today.
