1999 Forester Stickshift With A Freshly Replaced Engine And Fresh Pa Inspection on 2040-cars

Year:1999 Mileage:80140

This Subaru Forester is in great shape. It just got inspected for the PA state safety inspection, so the sticker will not expire until October 2014. This car is ready to drive anywhere you would like. The original engine overheated because of a bad head gasket, common to this year of Subaru. I purchased a very nice engine from a 2000 Subaru with 80K miles on it. My research shows that the newer engines have less head gasket issues than the original engine. The new engine did not need a head gasket but I replaced it anyway to prevent it from needing one in the future. The replacement Felpro head gaskets are better than the original ones installed by Subaru.

I had the head gasket replaced professionally and also replaced the timing belt and timing belt tensioner. I wanted to install a fresh engine that I could trust for 200K miles or more. The clutch is new and the whole car is ready to be driven daily for a long time.

The stickshift Subarus are desireable. It shifts smoothly and easily. The gear ratio is low to improve performance, which I found worked well in slow moving traffic.

The seats are in great shape with no tears. The car has been well taken care of.

I included a picture of a tiny dent on the rear wheel arch. The quarter panels are solid and rust free. The brown in the photo is dirt from my driveway. I've driven this car about 100 miles on the new engine and I continue to drive it daily. I've also noticed that the passenger side headlight bracket has been split glued by a previous owner and is no longer glued. I included a picture of this. It never bothered me and isn't noticeable externally.

The car is located in Perkiomenville, PA, Zip code 18074. This location is about 45 minutes north of Philadelphia along the turnpike and about 2 hours from Harrisburg, PA.

Subaru unveils catchily named WRX STI tS Type RA in Japan

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

We feel safe in saying it's time for Subaru to step away from the keyboard for a spell. The company just unveiled this new WRX STI tS Type RA in Japan, and while the car features all sorts of tricks to help it stand out from the rest of the WRX rabble, it also boasts a name that looks like the product of a good old fashioned QWERTY Hulk smash. Nomenclature aside, this WRX STI features a revised suspension with tweaked springs and dampers as well as a faster steering ratio, Brembo brakes and a front strut tower brace.
JDM buyers can pick between the ever-sexy (if loud) Tangerine Orange Pearl paint seen here, Satin White Pearl or Blue Mica. There's also available NBR Challenge Package, complete with a set of Recaro front seats, a few carbon fiber aero bits and 18-inch BBS forged wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE070 rubber. How's that for delicious?
Subaru is only planning to crank out 300 WRX STI tS Type RA units, two-thirds of which will carry the NBR goodies.

Subaru debuts tougher-looking Outback for Australia [w/poll]

Tue, 17 Sep 2013

If you're going to name a car after a specific location or region, you'd better make sure it's taken seriously in the place it's named for. You're not likely to see a Chevrolet Monte Carlo in Monaco, and the Alfa Romeo Montreal was never even officially offered in North America, but the Subaru Outback is another story.
Subaru apparently takes the Australian market, whose wilderness its jacked-up Legacy wagon is named for, very seriously. So it is apparently rolling out a revised version of the current Outback in Australia itself. The updated Outback, which arrives less than a year before the all-new model is expected to bow, answers Aussie customer feedback with a more rugged look. It's got new roof rails, body cladding, wheel arches, mud flaps, underbody protection plates and blacked-out headlight surrounds and grille trim.
The Motor Report reports that the AUD $2,500 worth of extra equipment - around $2,300 USD - comes with just an AUD $500 ($468) price hike. As far as we can tell, though, there are no plans to bring this latest look to our shores - Subaru has already detailed North America's Outback for the 2014 model year, and these changes aren't mentioned. Should this look be offered in our market? Vote in the poll below and then have your say in Comments.

Subaru BRZ to get second generation, says exec

Tue, 08 Jul 2014

Hallelujah friends, hallelujah. One of the highest voices in Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, has just said that the boxer-obsessed automaker will release a second generation of the lovable BRZ.
Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, president of FHI, has summarily shot down assertions made by Tetsuya Tada, the chief engineer for the Toyota GT86. In a recent interview with an Australian publication, Tada claimed that Subaru had not decided whether it would be involved in the followup effort to the rear-drive coupe, and even speculated that the Toyota could team with BMW for a second-gen car, instead.
"If I were to be told that, I'd pass out. It's not going to be just one generation," Yoshinaga-san told Automotive News.
