For Sale, a 1998 Subaru Forester L

The interior is in good condition. Has some staining in the carpet and headboard. Seats and upholstery are in good condition with no holes or rips, dashboard is in good condition, no cracks or fading.

The exterior is in fair condition. There are a small number of stains on the roof, and some touched-up scratches on the hatch, roof, and front left fender. There is significant rusting on the undercarriage from previous owners' negligence in snowy conditions.

The rear left brake drum, back plate, brake pipe, and wheel cylinder needs to be replaced. Brakes are not functioning due to a corroded brake pipe. Once this is fixed, brakes work well. The Master Cylinder is in good condition and front brake pads are in good condition.

The AC core also does not work due to a frontal collision. It needs a new evaporator coil. Compressor works well. Fan blows strong. Heater also works well. Also needs a new battery, as the current one is getting weak.

Engine runs strong, but has a very minor oil leak at the timing belt cover. Spark plug wires are in good condition, has a new radiator, hoses, and clips.

Power steering, power windows, locks, radio/CD, instrumentation, lighting, and rear window defogger, all work well. New Pioneer front door speakers.

Both roof rack crossbars are in good condition.

A closer look at the 2015 Subaru WRX

For enthusiasts, the debut of the 2015 Subaru WRX was arguably one of the more important happenings at last week's LA Auto Show. After all, the 'Rex has been one of our perennial favorite all-weather sports cars, able to offer big thrills in any clime thanks to its turbocharged engine, manual gearbox and top-notch all-wheel-drive system.
For 2015, some big changes have been made to our favorite Subie, including the removal of the hatchback body style and availability of a continuously variable transmission. Of course, there's also the new, 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, not to mention the completely revised styling.
Lots of talking points, for sure, so West Coast Editor Michael Harley chatted with Dominick Infante, national manager of product communications for Subaru USA, who promises us that this car will be the "best-handling WRX ever." As for that CVT, Infante assures us that it was "designed for a sports car" and that the company aims to change the minds of people (like us, admittedly) who have a hard time warming up to the idea of this transmission in a package like the WRX.

New Subaru Legacy may be getting smaller six-cylinder and sport models

Subaru gave the next-generation, 2015 Legacy a brand new, more sophisticated platform and improved interior at the Chicago Auto Show, but the engines were carried over barely changed from the previous gen. However, if a rumor from Car and Driver turns out to be true, then the power trains may be getting upgraded as well.
A source within Subaru indicates that the aging 3.6-liter flat-six might finally be getting a replacement in favor of a smaller, more powerful six-cylinder engine, and the four-cylinder may get direct injection. Both of them would be ready for the new Legacy's mid-cycle refresh in about three years, and they would likely be shared by new Outback too.
The turbocharged, GT trim has been absent from the US-market Legacy for the last few model years, but the insider hinted that it might make a return in the coming years. The new version would use the 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four found in the Forester and the WRX. Though like the Forester, a turbocharged Legacy would likely only be available with the CVT.

2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek gets more infotainment, safety tech

A couple of months ago, Subaru rolled out a series of minor enhancements for the Impreza, and now it's performed a similar upgrade to its more rugged counterpart, the XV Crosstrek. For 2015, the XV benefits from available EyeSight driver assistance suite, steering-responsive fog lights and a new 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with a seven-inch version on higher-spec models).
Otherwise the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek and XV Crosstrek Hybrid are essentially the same as the 2014 models they replace. The requisite 2.0-liter boxer four drives to all four wheels as always, with or without hybrid assist, through either a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission. Look for the updated model to reach dealers this December, and in the meantime, feel free to peruse the press release below.
