A very nice example of the 9000CSE Turbo 5-speed model.  No options because this is the model that has everything included. It is loaded! Accident free, adult driven and never abused.  Original dark green with tan leather.  I really want to keep it but the wife is screamin' too many cars so this is the one I use the least.   A joy to drive.   Engine starts right up quiet and smooth. Turbo boost normal. Clutch and transmission shifts with no issues.   All the windows and sunroof power with no snags.  Power locks, doors, trunk, hood operate correctly.  4 premium Toyo Spectrum tires with lots of tread mounted on the nice factory alloys. Recent brakes, pads, rotors, flush. Regular oil changes. 200K mi. (10K/year) is not a big deal for these SAABs.   The pictures show an exterior that shines proud and an interior that is still fresh.  A few minor scratches. No dents or uglies.

The negatives: There is a small rust spot about the size of a silver dollar by the gas door.  Disconnected that nasty factory security system. Original Clarion sound system locks when power is disconnected.  I thought I had the code - NOT! Codes are available or you can install an aftermarket unit.   The climate control unit powers up but is not working correctly.  They are available on ebay for $50-100. and is a plug in.  I am guessing that would take care of it.   SRS (airbag) and check engine light on but nothing seems to be a problem.  If it bothers you, you need to have a SAAB tech check and turn it off.     The new owner should take it into a good SAAB mechanic for a going over.   This is a '94 so it is 20 years old and it is a SAAB.  So I am selling it as is and starting the bidding at $99. NO RESERVE.  Serious bidders only as the high bidder will be the new happy owner.  I have clear Washington State title.  Successful bidder is responsible for pick up.  Must PayPal $300 deposit within 24 hours of end of auction.  Balance in certified funds or cash upon taking delivery. Listed locally so subject to prior sale. Call or email if you have questions.   360.820.2255    - Jim

NEVS announces 200 layoffs as it says Saab restart will 'take time'

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

For a fleeting moment a few weeks ago, the news from Saab-owner National Electric Vehicle Sweden appeared almost positive. The company had its reorganization plan approved (a day after it was denied), and the automaker was actually showing a real, running vehicle, albeit one with a top speed of 75 miles per hour. But those tiny crumbs of potential goodness have been swept away because NEVS has announced layoffs of as many as 200 factory employees in September "due to lack of work."
Workers probably shouldn't get too eager to return to the factory either, because company's "decision to re-start production will be further delayed" by an unspecified amount of time, NEVS says in a press release. To begin assembling cars again, the company needs to find long-term funding and a new majority owner. Those seem like two very steep hurdles for the embattled automaker to clear.
Despite not producing cars since May, NEVS still claims it's negotiating with a new owner, possibly Mahindra, but according to Reuters, the Swedish company owes about 400 million kronor ($56 million) to creditors. According to its layoff announcement, getting rid of these workers is one step in the business' reorganization plan to be presented on October 8. Scroll down to read its full release.

Saab to reintroduce 9-3 SportCombi as Phoenix development continues

Sun, 27 Apr 2014

The saga of Saab goes to show that you can't keep a good automaker down. Founded back in 1947 (the same year, incidentally, as Ferrari, TVR and Maserati defector OSCA), Saab split off from its aerospace division, merged with Scania trucks, was subsequently picked up by General Motors, then pawned off onto Spyker before its current Chinese owners brought it back out of bankruptcy. Now under the auspices of National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), Saab has official restarted production of the 9-3 sedan, but what are its plans for the future?
In correspondence with Autoblog, NEVS communications director Mikael Ostlund gave us an idea of what to expect. First of all, NEVS is living up to its name by launching an electric version of the 9-3. As we reported a couple of weeks ago, the 9-3 EV currently is undergoing a pilot launch in the Chinese city of Qingdao (which owns part of NEVS) before being rolled out in other markets around the world. But that's not all NEVS has planned for Saab.
The reborn Swedish automaker also plans to relaunch the 9-3 SportCombi to supplement the 9-3 sedan. The wagon version was part of the second-gen 9-3's rollout in the early 2000s, offering increased cargo space and versatility - particularly vital since GM had seen it fit to replace the previous hatchback bodystyle favored by the brand faithful with a more traditional trunked form to lure new buyers into the fold. Although Ostlund confirmed that NEVS has "the option of adding the convertible" back into the lineup, nut has yet to decide on if and when it will do so.

Saab owner may speed up relaunch with gas-powered 9-3

Wed, 21 Nov 2012

National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the new owner of Saab, has good news for you if you happened to miss out on picking up a 9-3 before the company plummeted through bankruptcy. Automotive News Europe reports NEVS may offer a gasoline-powered 9-3 in 2013. That move would effectively step up the brand's re-launch plan by a full year. Originally, the company planned to introduce an electric vehicle in 2014, but NEVS is currently investigating ways to start production next summer using "a 9-3 with a traditional powertrain" in order to generate more cash for the electrification effort.
NEVS purchased Saab earlier this year with the intent of resurrecting the brand with a fully electric product portfolio. The new EVs would theoretically ride on the Saab Phoenix platform and be manufactured at the automaker's plant in Trollhattan, Sweden. The report of a resurrected gasoline model came courtesy of Mikael Oestlund, a company spokesperson familiar with the company's workings.
