This Saab starts right up and drives great with no issues.

This Saab has been meticulously maintained, recent major service include but is not limited to:

  • Rebuilt original 5 speed transmission
  • Rebuilt power steering gear box
  • New head installed (to fix an issue these motors were prone to)

The car has great tires and is ready to drive anywhere, The only issues I see are cracked windshield, A/C not working (owner lived in the Wyoming mountains so didn't see the need to have AC) the heater blows very warm, the driver's seat has some tears on it (see pictures).

Besides the small issues listed above, this car is a fantastic example of a classic Saab. The car not only starts at the first turn every time and drives like a dream but looks great as well with it's original paint, dash, interior, and such.

Windows, light, sunroof, radio, horn, and even the antenna all work as they should.

I have posted a lot of pictures so you can get a very good idea of the great condition this classic Saab is in, take your time to look them over.

If you have questions feel free to ask them.

Please only bid if you have the bid amount ready liquid assets and if you are truly intending to follow through if you are the top bidder. It is very unfair to others that are interested in the car when people do otherwise.

Enjoy the pictures!

Remember the vehicle is being offered for auction with No Reserve!

I have to make a correction!

In the description I say the A/C does not work, that is wrong. The A/C does work and blows very cold.

It was just low on Freon, I converted the system to R134 and filled it. The A/C now blows 40 degrees F air (very nice and cold).

On May-08-14 at 16:13:22 PDT, seller added the following information:

There have been a couple request to see pictures of the undercarriage, so here are some.

As you can see there is no real rust and everything is very clean under there.

Saab's latest Chinese owners facing their own credit woes

Sat, 16 Aug 2014

Poor Saab, it can't seem to get a break. General Motors couldn't seem to make a go of it, neither could Spyker, and now it seems that its latest owner is encountering some problems of its own.
That owner, of course, is National Electric Vehicle Sweden, a Swedish holding company owned by Chinese investors. NEVS recently restarted production at the Saab plant in Trollhättan, Sweden, and had some ambitious plans for the brand's revival, but it appears to have run out of cash.
This according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, which discovered that NEVS is having trouble paying its suppliers. One such supplier, called Labo Test, has reportedly been owed some $22,000 by NEVS since February, and without payment, petitioned the Swedish government to place NEVS into bankruptcy proceedings. If that seems a little extreme to you over twenty-two grand, it would seem the parties agree, as the petition has reportedly since been withdrawn.

NEVS announces 200 layoffs as it says Saab restart will 'take time'

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

For a fleeting moment a few weeks ago, the news from Saab-owner National Electric Vehicle Sweden appeared almost positive. The company had its reorganization plan approved (a day after it was denied), and the automaker was actually showing a real, running vehicle, albeit one with a top speed of 75 miles per hour. But those tiny crumbs of potential goodness have been swept away because NEVS has announced layoffs of as many as 200 factory employees in September "due to lack of work."
Workers probably shouldn't get too eager to return to the factory either, because company's "decision to re-start production will be further delayed" by an unspecified amount of time, NEVS says in a press release. To begin assembling cars again, the company needs to find long-term funding and a new majority owner. Those seem like two very steep hurdles for the embattled automaker to clear.
Despite not producing cars since May, NEVS still claims it's negotiating with a new owner, possibly Mahindra, but according to Reuters, the Swedish company owes about 400 million kronor ($56 million) to creditors. According to its layoff announcement, getting rid of these workers is one step in the business' reorganization plan to be presented on October 8. Scroll down to read its full release.

Petrolicious keeps our love of the Saab Sonett aflame

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

German auto designs lean toward function and purpose. Italian designers deliver passion and beauty. The Brits, majesty. American cars, brashness and authority. If you want a funky design, though, you go to Sweden. The land of cheap, do-it-yourself furniture and delicious meatballs knows a thing or six about style and design, and while that character is only now reemerging thanks to a certain string of Volvo concepts, it use to be that Saab was the authority on penning some of the industry's more unique designs.
Take the beautiful Sonett for example - a small coupe whose appearance is a funky mishmash of a Porsche 911 and a Bugeyed Sprite with just a hint of a Citroën DS (it's that convex rear window). It's a positively striking car, made more unique by its two-stroke, three-cylinder powertrain and four-on-the-tree manual transmission. With just 70 horsepower hauling about 1,500 pounds of Swedish style, the Sonett strikes us as an ideal alternative to some of the English sports cars of its day, particularly for those that are looking for something beyond your average MG or Triumph.
For Glenn Roberts, the Sonett was a part of his childhood. His family owned example was originally a special-order item by his parents in 1967. He bought the car from them 13 years later and has never looked back, completing a restoration in 2004. With a story like that, it's not surprising that Roberts and his silver Sonett are the most recent pairing to get some attention from Petrolicious.
