Thanks for checking out this listing for our 2004 Saab 9-3 SE. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to email me – I will be quick to respond.
I am listing this car for a friend of mine, who is the second owner. She has owned it since 2010 and is only parting with it because her company gave her a brand new Audi. We have the clear California title in-hand. The car is in very good working condition, with only 74,500 original miles. It has been very well maintained over the years. Three new tires were installed less than 500 miles ago. We have service receipts over the last 10 years, including those from the previous owner. Oil changes and other basic maintenance has been performed at regular intervals by a certified facility.
The engine sounds and runs exactly as it should. The 5 speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly. There are no engine leaks or abnormal sounds from the engine or transmission. The brakes are firm. The suspension and shocks seem in good condition. Both rear shocks were replaced about two years ago. There are no known mechanical issues.
The interior has normal wear, but nothing more. The leather is in good condition throughout, for its 10 year of age. There are no rips or tears and the driver’s seat is in better than average condition for its age.
The body is straight with no dents. There is one door ding (seen in an image) and there is bumper wear on the front and rear, which is also noted in the attached images.
The convertible top is in very good condition. It seals tight and there are no leaks. There is no discoloration and the seams are solid. The convertible motor works perfectly in both directions.
All interior functions are known to be working properly, including the air conditioning.
The wheels are average. There is some curb rubs on the rims but nothing too bad (see images).
Two working FOB keys come with the car.
At the presale mechanical check-up, the mechanic noted that the ‘dummy light’ indicator depicting both a burned out rear taillight and low oil are both the result of faulty sensors in the respective locales, not actual mechanical issues. These sensors will not be replaced prior to sale and are the responsibility of the new owner.
There is a bit of delamination around the gear shifter. The plastic around the selector looks worn – like it had an averse to sunlight or something. There is a very small ding in the windshield, again, noted in the images.
It’s a solid, well maintained car, with below average mileage. It has been lightly used its entire life – still plenty of life left. It going to the HIGHEST BIDDER in a NO RESERVE AUCTION, starting at $1.00. Crazy? We’ll see.
A $500 deposit (via Paypal only) will be due within 48 hours of the auction close by the winning bidder. The balance will be paid upon pick-up of the car or before. We can facilitate the shipping of the vehicle – meaning we’ll work with your shipping company in coordinating vehicle pick up or drop off, but it’ll be your responsibility to arrange for the shipping. We need the sale to be completed within two weeks of auction end – no exceptions. We have clear California title in-hand.
We have the car listed locally for sale, so should it sell before the auction ends, we’ll end the auction.
Please don’t hesitate to email me (through the eBay system) with any questions. I’ll respond quickly and will provide my phone number in case you’re interested in having a conversation. Though I’m selling this car for a (lady) friend of mine, I’ve bought and sold 10+ vehicles through eBay, over the last 12 or so years. I have 100% positive feedback for a reason, no BS.
Happy Bidding !!

When a brand goes belly-up, it's natural for analysts to wonder where that brand's consumers will turn. General Motors has mothballed more car brands the last decade than most other automakers' have in their entire portfolios, so "Where did [insert brand here] buyers go?" has been a common question asked of The General. According to reports, it didn't do so well at retaining Oldsmobile owners (who supposedly went to Hyundai), or Hummer and Saturn buyers, but did get some return love from Pontiac owners.
A consultant with Polk has turned the loyalty lens on Saab. The Polk Disposal Loyalty Methodology tracks owners selling vehicles within six months of buying a new one. In 2010 and 2011, Polk found that when Saab died, owners went right up the middle of the mainstream to Honda. It was close, though, with just 0.2 percent separating Honda from number two Volkswagen. Audi comes in third.
After that it's back to the masses with Toyota, Chevrolet and Ford trumping import luxury brands. And if you combine all of the General Motors brands that Saab owners have migrated to, GM more than doubles Honda with a 15.2-percent share, so all the love is not lost.
Do you believe in reincarnation? Like how we hope that, maybe, all of our hard work as auto writers will result in an eventual return as a swarm of beautiful butterflies. If you are a Saab fan, the equivalent could be this bit of news: The 9-3 Convertible may rise again, as an electric vehicle.
Word comes from the Dutch version of Autoweek that Chinese entity National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) has indicated that it will bring an electric version of the 9-3 Convertible to market in the next 18 months. The EV droptop would first debut in the Chinese market, but could expand, as could the lineup to other 9-3 variants, such as the sedan and SportCombi. A NEVS spokesperson has stated, "NEVS basically no doors holds." We're not sure if that's the spokesperson or the translation from the Dutch report, but you get the gist.
NEVS also indicated that conventionally powered versions of the 9-3 could be produced as well. The internal combustion engines could be the originally intended General Motors engines. Regardless of powerplant, we would be very eager to see Saab return, potentially as an EV to boot!
It feels utterly bizarre that we're still talking about Saab, but Reuters is reporting that the bankrupt Swedish manufacturer's American arm has gotten approval from the US Bankruptcy Court to liquidate its assets and pay back creditors. As part of the plan, secured creditors like Ally Financial will receive full repayment. Unsecured creditors, consisting of those affected by abandoned leases and contracts will get anywhere from 25 to 82 percent of their money back.
There are currently $77 million in unsecured claims, according to Reuters, but that number doesn't include claims from former Saab dealers. Naturally, the entire affair is full of lawyers and legalese. A trust formed on the Saab side will be negotiating with creditors and their affiliates in an attempt to reduce claims against Saab. This sounds like the start of a long and sordid affair...
