DO  NOT GO THROUGH LIFE WITHOUT OWNING AND DRIVING A TRUE ROLLS-ROYCE!

This beautiful 1989, in the R-R brochure color, is in near pristine condition. Garaged and covered all its life, its wood is absolutely perfect. The chrome glistens. The Everflex top is in superb condition. Within the past year it has had its services (oil and filter, transmission check, brake check, new thermostat, upper hose (lower hose supplied) and proper coolant, new rear suspension spheres, new battery) and many other small details attended to.The hides are in very good condition with no cuts, tears or significant wear. (The car was reportedly chauffeur-driven - mainly used for transporting entertainment-type clients around by a New York City area attorney.) No rust, of course.

The custom floor mats are new and -if you want them, the old mouton/lambs wool ones are available but wlll need cleaned and new backing..The car has a custom-made super-soft R-R branded car cover which was used even while it was garaged. Luisi wood steering wheel. (The original black steering wheel is also included.) All manuals, tools, factory spares are with the car.

What does it need?  The cruise control is inoperative. (Not checked or diagnosed as of this time.)  The car could use a professional-type wax and polish to bring out the mile-deep shine of the gorgeous royal blue paintwork even more.

SOME OTHER GOODIES FOR YOU ---

This R-R comes with a few extras... like four new Vogue WSW/Gold-Stripe Tires (Unmounted) -the existing Michelins are still great, but are a few years old. Spare maintenance items such as oil filters, hydraulic fluid, wiper blades, front and rear brake pads (car noes not need new brakes) - incidentally, the front rotors have two calipers each! Touch up paints, seat dye (never used,) a spare front seat back - needs re-dyeing, spare gear selector, new lower radiator hose and lots of other accumulated stuff like wheel covers, instruments, etc.

NOTE: Every year or so I find and buy a special car, fix anything it needs, drive and enjoy it for awhile---then move on. This is one of those. Take a look at my feedback as a Seller to see what buyers of some of my other recent toys have to say.

Vehicle is for sale locally so bid strongly if you want it. We reserve the right to end this listing at any time.

Rolls-Royce seriously considering SUV

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

A Rolls-Royce Phantom may be the size of an SUV, and the Ghost isn't that much smaller. Still, according to reports, the high-end British automaker is seriously evaluating the prospect of adding a proper sport-ute or crossover to its lineup.
The news comes courtesy of Bloomberg, which spoke to Rolls-Royce chief executive Torsten Müller-Ötvös at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. Although the rumor of a potential Rolls off-roader has been floating around for several months now, this is the first we've seen of the company confirming the possibility.
The development would follow similar projects being undertaken by rival automakers. Former sister-brand Bentley is preparing to launch an SUV, Jaguar revealed its own concept crossover at the same show, Maserati is gearing up to start production of the Levante and even Aston Martin has considered the idea of a crossover.

Rolls-Royce to reach 4,000 units this year

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Rolls-Royce is, by nature, an exclusive auto marque, but it has been steadily increasing its sales to the point that it could be looking at 4,000 units by the end of this year, setting a new record for the German-owned British automaker.
You don't even need to go back a decade to find Rolls-Royce sales hovering around the 1,000-unit mark. But that was when Goodwood only offered the Phantom saloon. The subsequent addition of the Phantom DHC and Phantom Coupe helped expand its portfolio, enlarged even further by the addition of the Ghost in 2010, by which time total sales were reaching 3,000 units.
The Spirit of Ecstasy marque has been hovering around the 3,500 mark ever since, but with the Wraith now in the mix and its reach extending into growing markets around the world, Autocar reports that global sales could top 4,000 units this year. (Of course that pales in comparison to one-time sister brand Bentley, which topped 10,000 deliveries last year, but Rolls-Royce typically competes at a higher price bracket.)

Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.
