Up for auction is a one owner, non smoker, always garaged, low low low miles, pristine, immaculate, perfect, spectacular, one of a kind (condition wise) 1986 Rolls Royce Silver Spur that has spent it's entire life in Southern California. There is NO better premium example of a used Rolls Royce than this car! Tags are good until December 2014 in California.
Everything works on the car with the exception of one item: the rear passenger side window. The window goes down but does not go up. Other than this one item everything else is functional as far as I can tell (including the a/c blowing cold). However, due to the age of the car I am not responsible for anything that does NOT work upon purchasing the car. Something could stop working the next time the car is started! However, at the time of this auction everything except the window is functional. The car looks, drives and smells like the day it was delivered. As you can tell from the photos it is in excellent condition (thanks to our beautiful Southern CA weather and the fact that we don't drive our luxury cars in the rain!). The car will be sold so I am starting the auction off at only $9,995.00 with no reserve above this amount. In other words a bid of $9,996.00 (or higher will buy the car!). Rolls-Royce SUV depends on fortunes of BMW X7
Sun, 02 Jun 2013The on-again, off-again discussion regarding the rumored Rolls-Royce SUV seems to be back in the "maybe" camp now. In February, we heard that Rolls-Royce was considering adding an SUV, but then in April, another report said that these rumors had been shot down. Automobile is now saying that this ultra-luxury SUV could be determined by the success of the equally uncertain BMW X7 (on which the R-R SUV would be based), which we've heard little on since 2011.
Although the article is based solely on speculation, there are some interesting details about such a potential Rolls-Royce, including a plug-in hybrid drivetrain using a twin-turbo V8 (not a V12) and a chassis and body built in South Carolina with final assembly taking place in Goodwood - where all Rolls-Royce cars are built. We could also assume that a green light for a Rolls-Royce SUV would be based on the success of rival SUVs like the Bentley Falcon and Maserati Levante.
Rolls-Royce rolls out one-off Ghost Golden Sunbird in China
Thu, 19 Sep 2013In 2001, archeologists in the palace city of Chengdu, China, uncovered the Golden Sun Bird, an ancient artifact that dates back to the Shang Dynasty from 1000 BC. The disc depicts the sun and is made of almost solid gold, measuring five inches across and weighing 20 grams. The city adopted it as its logo, and now Rolls-Royce has commemorated the find and the heritage behind it with a unique one-off.
Based on the long-wheelbase version of the Ghost, the Golden Sunbird edition features a two-tone white and gold paint scheme, with gold coachline and gold grille topped by a gold Spirit of Ecstasy. The interior has likewise been gilded with gold embroidery atop the light brown leather and white trim to match the coachwork.
The result may be elegant but is certainly not subtle. And of course it's just the latest in a long line of special editions and one-offs Rolls-Royce has crafted, particularly for markets in the Middle and Far East.
Rolls-Royce developing new convertible
Wed, 06 Aug 2014Rolls-Royce is not a company that makes a lot of different vehicles, but of the ones it does, it tends to offer several versions. That's how we end up with sedan, long-wheelbase, coupe and (in the former's case) convertible versions of the Phantom and Ghost. And now Goodwood has confirmed development of another model.
Although details in the press release below are few and far between, it does promise to "deliver effortless, open-top touring... with an engaging and exhilarating driving experience." CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös added: "We are currently developing an exciting and thoroughly contemporary interpretation of a pinnacle drophead tourer which will introduce even more discerning men and women to Rolls-Royce ownership."
What that tells us is that the new model - set to reach showrooms "by mid-2016" - will be a convertible that's exciting to drive and more youthful than the Phantom Drophead Coupe. In other words, and in all likelihood, we're looking at the convertible version of the Ghost-based Wraith fastback (like the one we recently spotted undergoing testing, pictured above). Expect it, then, to carry the same 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12, but with the added rush of wind in your hair.
