1977 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow ---no Reserve !!!!! on 2040-cars
Athens, Texas, United States
1977 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow No Reserve auction!!!!! This car is complete and appears to be pretty solid. It would make a good rebuilder, parts car, or I was actually thinking about making it a hot rod. It shows 42,690 on the odometer. I do not know if that is correct, but I do know that it was owned long term by a lady in our small town--so it may be. I do not know anything about the mechanicals on it other than it was being driven when parked. Interior is somewhat rough, but not absolutely destroyed. Tires are good, engine has antifreeze in it and the oil looks primo. It appears to have been maintained. Right Hand Drive Most rust on the car is surface only, although there is some rust over the rear wheel wells and a bit in the trunk floor around the battery. This Car was running and driving when parked in 1998. It has not moved since then until I pulled it out of a barn a few months ago. It will need a lot of work to be driving again, but I would bet that it will run. The wiring is a mess as it has had mice chewing on it apparently. The car is located in Athens, Texas. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. |

Home of Rolls-Royce Collection makes debut at the Quail
Sat, 17 Aug 2013Rolls-Royce is marking 10 years of production at its Goodwood, England home, with the aptly named Home of Rolls-Royce Collection. The first instance of the Collection, a brilliantly appointed Phantom, has come to The Quail to make its world debut.
The goal of the Home of Rolls-Royce Collection seems to be to really showcase the kind of pristine, detailed work that the artisans back in Goodood are capable off, while creating a car that almost instantly achieves heirloom status. The Phantom seen here displays a truly impressive wood paneled cabin, where a technique called marquetry has been used to inlay some 170 sections of 11 different types of wood into a "celebration" motif.
You'll find a compass theme throughout the car as well - inside and out - which the company tells us is meant to highlight the sales of Goodwood-built Rollers on five continents across the world. Compass designs can be found on the armrests and center console, with each piece of embroidery taking more than 100,000 stitches to create. Not to be outdone in terms of time lavished, the compass motif painted on the exterior of the car takes one squirrel-hair-brush-wielding craftsman six hours to perfectly apply.
Rolls-Royce Ghost meets its muddy maker in Jakarta flood
Sun, 20 Jan 2013When severe weather or a natural disaster strikes an area, it's hard to get sentimental over trivial possessions like cars, but at the same time, as auto enthusiasts, it always pains us to see a rare car lost regardless of the circumstances. Heavy rains in Jakarta, Indonesia have produced the worst flooding in the city since 2007, which according to Reuters has left an estimated 18,000 people displaced from their homes in addition to six deaths, leaving the roadways covered covered in feet of water.
One of the many cars claimed by the rising waters was this Rolls-Royce Ghost that is surrounded by water that almost fully covers the massive wheels. There is no word as to how much water got inside this Ghost, but it was obviously enough that it could be bailed out by the bucket.
Rolls-Royce to reach 4,000 units this year
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Rolls-Royce is, by nature, an exclusive auto marque, but it has been steadily increasing its sales to the point that it could be looking at 4,000 units by the end of this year, setting a new record for the German-owned British automaker.
You don't even need to go back a decade to find Rolls-Royce sales hovering around the 1,000-unit mark. But that was when Goodwood only offered the Phantom saloon. The subsequent addition of the Phantom DHC and Phantom Coupe helped expand its portfolio, enlarged even further by the addition of the Ghost in 2010, by which time total sales were reaching 3,000 units.
The Spirit of Ecstasy marque has been hovering around the 3,500 mark ever since, but with the Wraith now in the mix and its reach extending into growing markets around the world, Autocar reports that global sales could top 4,000 units this year. (Of course that pales in comparison to one-time sister brand Bentley, which topped 10,000 deliveries last year, but Rolls-Royce typically competes at a higher price bracket.)
