1972 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow

For sale is a beautiful Rolls Royce Sedan in excellent driver quality condition. It is a unique light blue over dark blue 2-Tone paint color with a dark blue leather interior. It was stored for a few years in a air conditioned garage without being driven. It was started periodically to help the mechanicals stay operational. It is currently undergoing a oil and fuel change just in case.

The exterior of this car is a very nice with NO RUST anywhere on the body. It has a great shine and luster but could use a full detail. The chrome is very nice as well with very little pitting or imperfections. The lighting and windows are fully operational with no issues.

The interior of this Rolls Royce is very nice but not show quality. There are no tears or cracks in the seats. They are 40 years old and do show some signs of wear. The dash some some very minor cracks but no major ones. The wood is in great shape with no cracking or peeling.

Electrically, this is a 40 year old british car so there are the occasional quirks. As of right now every electronic item it working. It has a factory installed 8-track still installed with some extra tapes to play.

Mechanically, this car is sound. It runs very well and shifts well. There are some leaks underneath as with all Rolls Royce cars of this vintage. The brakes are working well with no pulling. The suspension is robust and does not sag.

I purchased a collection of cars and this was in it. I have not had it long but the prior owner had it since 1994 and it comes with extensive service records and workshop manuals.

Please bid to win. Do not bid if you have no intention of buying this car. I will be happy to answer questions quickly and accurately.

Rolls-Royce Alpine Trial Centenary Collection celebrates century-old Austrian race

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Among the harvest of premieres at the Shanghai Motor Show was a special-edition Rolls-Royce Ghost to celebrate the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials. Four Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts entered the race a century ago, and in completing the 1,820-mile challenge flawlessly earned the sobriquet "The Best Car in the World." The new Ghosts commemorating the feat represent two firsts for the brand: Rolls-Royce has never created a bespoke homage to one of its own cars, and it has never released a car with a black grille.
Those two features, as well as blue paint and black wheels, are in tribute to James Radley's privateer entry in that 1913 race that drove alongside the three factory teams. Other special features include the coachline (pinstripe) that evokes the four cars from the 20th-century race, and inside, a color-matched headliner, a clock with the rally stages and times, and topographical inlays on the front fascia and rear picnic tables.
The 20-Ghost Club will be reenacting the event this year, the parade including Radley's 1913 car. It kicks off in Vienna, Austria on June 14. For the time being you can read the press release below and check out the high-res photos above.

BMW profit of $2.7B is down as automaker invests to keep luxury lead

Fri, 02 Aug 2013

Despite selling 6.6-percent more vehicles - a record by volume - and posting higher revenues in the second quarter of 2013, BMW Group's profit of 2.07 million euros ($2.75 billion) is down 8.8 percent from last year. Investments in new technology (e.g. the new i3) and personnel, in addition to a competitive market, are to blame, BMW states. But the automaker remains committed to its fiscal targets for 2013, which, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, says will be "on a similar scale to 2012."
The BMW brand's sales performance in the first half of the year, which increased by 7.7 percent to 804,258 vehicles delivered, was good enough for it to maintain its lead in the luxury market, narrowly beating Audi, which delivered 780,510 vehicles, Automotive News reports. Mercedes-Benz delivered 694,433 vehicles to cement third place.

Watch this Rolls-Royce Phantom get grassy knees

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

Here's a pro tip: if you're going to fire your chauffeur, make sure he hands over the keys to your Rolls-Royce Phantom first. If you don't, you just might wind up with scene like the one in the video below on your hands. In it, some sprightly soul decides to eschew the beaten path for a quick frolicking over hill and dale in the luxury leviathan. The grounds will never be the same. Grass, mud and water are all sent scattering as the Rolls-Royce proceeds to pound the earth into submission.
There's also a few smoky burnouts thrown in for good measure. We can appreciate any shenanigans with a high-dollar automobile that don't end in wrinkled sheetmetal. You can check out the full glory of the sideways Phantom in the video below.
