1981 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible
Nice car with a very attractive color combination, really turns heads. The engine sounds smooth, the car shifts well, rides smooth and brakes well. The power windows and the power top also work. It has a custom aftermarket stereo with custom speakers installed. The leather looks to be original, the paint looks nice and is not original (normal expected wear/chips/minor dings/imperfections). The gauges work. The tires have 80% tread left. The car stops well but the Brake 1 light is on in the dash, it was not on when the car was put in storage. The digital display panel in the dash was also working when the car was used last but is not now. Also, the knob for the heating and a/c control panel is not working (just turns freely). The top looks nice, possibly original, and has wear and some very small tears around the base area. We have owned this car for around ten years and used it for Sunday drives, going to dinner, family gatherings etc. It has been in storage since around 2009/10 and is on a non-op, so no back fees are due. Last week, we put some gas in the car, charged up the battery and took it to the smog shop, and it passed all the tests.....comes with smog certificate. We don't have any history on the car, basically purchased it the way you see it. The car is sold as-is and as equipped. Payment is due within seven days of the end of the auction. Buyers is responsible for all applicable taxes and lic./registration fees. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. If you have any questions other than "what's the reserve/but it now price", you are welcome to contact me through ebay or call my cell# 559-801-8623 between 10am-6pm California time......please check time difference if any. |

Rolls-Royce mulling V16 roadster, SUV
Fri, 22 Feb 2013Rolls-Royce may be working on a new, mega-powerful roadster for 2017. CAR reports the convertible would conceivably boast a V16 engine. Of course, the report gets a little muddled here, with CAR saying the engine would be very similar to that of the one that powers the Bugatti Veyron - the French machine makes use of a W16 mill. Even so, the article says the Rolls-Royce version could put down around 700 horsepower. Design wise, we're told the creation will feature a suitably long nose with the passenger compartment pushed far to the rear.
Of course, 2017 is a long way off, and the thought of a 16-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine bowing under the crush of ever more stringent government fuel efficiency and emission regulations seems unlikely. We'll just put this one in the wait-and-see file for the time being. In the interim, you can hop over to CAR for a closer look at the magazine's rendering of the would-be roadster. If a V16 convertible does happen, look for a smug look on Rowan Atkinson's face.
Oh, and about that SUV? There's not much to report, though CAR does note that officials are keeping a close eye on rival Bentley and its plans for a luxury utility vehicle. Rolls brand boss Harald Krüger has even gone so far as to admit "we're regularly debating whether to take action."
Rolls-Royce reveals Ghawwass edition Phantom Coupe
Wed, 16 Oct 2013This is the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe Ghawwass Bespoke Edition, the latest car to join the long and distinguished line of Rolls-Royce limited editions that have arrived over the years. With that in mind, we'll allow you one guess as to what market this limited edition is destined for.
If you said the Middle East, which is almost always the answer when talking about ultra-limited, special editions of the world's finest luxury and sports cars, then give yourself a pat on the back. As for that name, "Ghawwass" is the Arabic word for diver, and attaching it to the Phantom Coupe is meant to celebrate "the traditional method of collecting pearls from the Bahrain pearl banks," according to Rolls-Royce's Facebook page, where these pictures were posted.
Considering its nautical namesake, the color scheme of the Phantom Ghawwass makes a lot of sense, with a Turchese Blue exterior and a tan and Turchese interior that brings to mind bright blue water and sand. The veneers are pearl - although we can't see them in this photoset - befitting the car's inspiration, while a Dhow, a traditional Arabic sailboat, can be found in the coachline and stitched into the headrests.
Rolls-Royce Alpine Trial Centenary Collection celebrates century-old Austrian race
Tue, 23 Apr 2013Among the harvest of premieres at the Shanghai Motor Show was a special-edition Rolls-Royce Ghost to celebrate the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials. Four Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts entered the race a century ago, and in completing the 1,820-mile challenge flawlessly earned the sobriquet "The Best Car in the World." The new Ghosts commemorating the feat represent two firsts for the brand: Rolls-Royce has never created a bespoke homage to one of its own cars, and it has never released a car with a black grille.
Those two features, as well as blue paint and black wheels, are in tribute to James Radley's privateer entry in that 1913 race that drove alongside the three factory teams. Other special features include the coachline (pinstripe) that evokes the four cars from the 20th-century race, and inside, a color-matched headliner, a clock with the rally stages and times, and topographical inlays on the front fascia and rear picnic tables.
The 20-Ghost Club will be reenacting the event this year, the parade including Radley's 1913 car. It kicks off in Vienna, Austria on June 14. For the time being you can read the press release below and check out the high-res photos above.
