I bought this beautiful Cayman in 2011 knowing that it had been fully restored except for the airbags. I thought I would install the new ones over the winter but ended up travelling overseas for work. After enjoying it through spring and summer I intended to work on it this winter, however I've been away again for a month and am heading off again, so the reality is, I'm not going to have time to replace them. I'm not sure which airbags need replacing but I'm assuming all of them.  I replaced the drivers and passengers seat belts as the pre-tensioners in them had been activated.  The previous owner did all the work on the vehicle but I've taken it to a Roush Facility where their mechanics went over it carefully and checked the chassis alignment.  They found no problems, in fact one of them wanted to buy it.  (That was a year ago and he's bought another Porsche now - dammit!)
In the crash it sustained damage to the driver side front fender, door and drivers rear quarter.  It really is a joy to drive, but not knowing if all the airbags work taints the fun so I've decided to sell it.

It has a set of custom powder coated 3 Pc forged Zone wheels, shod in Toyo Proxes T1R Ultra Performance tires. The interior is also customized featuring Alcantera on the dash, seats, pillars etc..with deviated stitching. The door panels ad dash heater vents were color matched to the Alcantera and custom painted.
With under 21,000 miles the car runs as expected smooth and strong and sounds great due to the factory installed sport exhaust.  The car has never been tracked and has been garage kept (heated storage over winter).  Whenever I take it out it turns heads and someone will always comment on how great it looks.  This is a used vehicle, and the car is being sold as is and all sales are final. There is no warranty written or implied.  My feedback reflects my positive principles so please bid with confidence.

Transportation is the responsibility of the purchaser. However, I will be happy to assist in accommodating pick up where possible. Thanks and Happy Bidding!

Porsche offers detuned Boxster and Cayman 211 in Europe

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

Looking at a new Porsche Boxster? First of all, we commend you on your choice, because in its latest iteration, the Boxster has sped out from under the shadow of the 911 and into its own. But now to choose: do you get the base model with 265 horsepower, the Boxster S with 315 hp, or the top-of-the-line Boxster GTS with 330 hp? It's a daunting question, considering the $10k+ price gap between each model that you could put into the gas-and-rubber jar. Same goes for the Cayman, albeit with ten more horses across the board. But as if that's not confusing enough, there appears to be another player on the field. (That is, at least, in certain European markets.)
Appearing on the company's Belgian and Norwegian sites are the Boxster 211 and Cayman 211. As you might have guessed, they pack a less substantial 211 horsepower, undercutting what we know as the base models. Instead of using a smaller engine, though, the Boxster and Cayman 211 get the same 2.7-liter boxer six, just with less power.
As a result, they're a bit slower off the line: the Boxster 211 takes between 6.1 and 6.4 seconds to get to 62, depending on exact specifications, compared to the 5.5- to 5.8-second range for the 265-hp Boxster, while the Cayman 211 is quoted at 6.2 seconds versus the 275-hp Cayman's 5.4 to 5.7 seconds. Fuel consumption and emissions, on the other hand (and as you'd expect), are better in the 211. But while Porsche Norway charges around $10k less for the 211 models, Porsche Belgium charges the same for the 211 models as it does for the next most powerful versions (from which they appear to be visually indistinguishable).

MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.

Porsche continues facelift spree with 911 Turbo

Fri, 24 Jan 2014

If there's ever been automotive case for constant evolution, it is the Porsche 911. It seems like every time a new version of the rear-engined sports car debuts, Porsche is already hard at work on a facelifted version of it that changes some subtle, barely noticeable aspect.
Such is the case with this round of images of a facelifted 911 Turbo, which was seen undergoing winter testing alongside the facelifted, hardtop-version of the 911 Cabriolet we showed you yesterday. The new, 991-based 911 Turbo was just unveiled in May of 2013.
Like the Cabrio from yesterday, both the Turbo and naturally aspirated models shown here feature additional slats at the rear of the car, right behind the rear wheels. These slats on the standard model lend credence to what we learned yesterday - that even the regular 911 models could end up getting turbocharged mills.
