2003 Porsche Boxster S Great Candidate For Spec Boxster Or Electric Conversion on 2040-cars

US $7,500.00
Year:2003 Mileage:15000
Location:

United States

United States

This is an unusual listing, but is exactly the car that a certain someone is looking for.  This is what is left of a 2003 Porsche Boxster S roadster.  Car is a post theft recovery and appears to have been stripped.  Motor/ gearbox/ convertible top/ seats/ bumpers/ headlights/ taillights/ seats/ door panels/ radio are missing.  The car does NOT seem to have suffered any collision type damage.  The car will come with a CLEAN (non-salvage/ non-reconstructed) title, showing mileage under 15,000 miles.

This is a perfect starting point for someone building a Spec Boxster car (and is a much better donor car than most, as many are created from earlier 97-98 bodies, which did not benefit from improved structure as the 2000 and newer cars did), any sort of SCCA or PCA race car, Chevy LS series engine conversion, or someone wanting to do an electric conversion.  Being a 2003, if the buyer did want to return this to Porsche engine power, this car is factory wired to accept a 3.6 or 3.8 engine with associate 7.8 DME computer.

Car is located in Omaha NE, and shipping will by at buyer's expense.  The car can be rolled around and steered very easily due to its light weight.

Obviously, this is sold as-is with no warranty of any sort.

Porsche revisits the 911's dirty side with rally history film

Fri, 03 Jan 2014

It might not be a coincidence that there are rumors of Porsche revealing a safari version of the 911 at April's Beijing Motor Show, just as the Dakar Rally is about to begin. Adding fuel to the dusty desert fire is a just-released official video of Jeff Zwart driving the Porsche 953 that Jacky Ickx drove to victory in the 1984 edition of the race.
In the video, the seven-time Pikes Peak International Hill Climb winner talks about how he grew up with the 911; it wasn't only the car he learned to drive in, it was his choice of racecar no matter whether the course was tarmac or the dirty stuff.
You can decide for yourself if these recent events are mere coincidence while you enjoy the 953's exhaust note in the video below. If you've got the time to see the 953 during its race-conquering drive and find out what the ersatz Paris-Dakar Rally used to be, we've also included a broadcast of that 1984 race below as well. Fast-forward to 19:44 to see the Porsches cross the open dessert and 29:09 to watch one of them tackle the dunes.

Drive-up bank robbery perpetrated with Cayenne and WRX

Sat, 14 Sep 2013

Thieves carried out what appears to be a movie-script-perfect robbery of a bank in Sydney, Australia early on Friday morning, using two stolen high-performance vehicles in the process.
At around 11:15 AM local time, in near mid-day light, reports say that two men in masks smashed into the side of a Westpac bank in a confirmed-stolen black Porsche Cayenne. The perpetrators were armed with sledgehammers according to witness reports, and took only about five minutes to take what they were after inside of the bank.
The rapid getaway was executed in a Subaru WRX, also confirmed as a stolen vehicle, while witnesses snapped camera phone images of the illicit goings on. One Twitter user posted a few of the images to his social media feed; you can take a look at them in our small gallery below. Follow on down for the full video report, from The Sydney Morning Herald.

Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.
It's a fun video. And while we've spoiled the results (come on, the video was uploaded by Mazda, you knew the Miata was going to win), be sure to see how it all unfolds, below.
