1987 944 Turbo w/ 61k miles, Clean Title, Guards Red / Black int. Good to Very Good Paint. Runs great - fantastic power (350hp) with no problems, accidents, etc. 3 years ago I spent $30,000 upgrading and replacing everything to the config below. Every hose, sensor, coil, rotor, timing belt, waterpump, plugs, wires, coolant tank, head gasket, turbo waterpump, waterpump relay, fan relays, and nearly every other part in the entire engine was replaced. Amsoil Oil and gear changes for the last 10 years that I have owned it. Given $40k+ into the car, the buy it now price is the lowest price and is extremely fair compared to similar cars in the market. I could potentially reduce the price by $800 if the set of Cup Wheels and New Tires are sold separately.

This car is a fantastic street / light track car with a reliable 350hp at 15psi. What a blast to drive.

Known Issues -

There are only a few minor issues worth noting other than normal wear and tear. There is a slight leak in oil pan gasket so the car gets a small quarter sized drip under the engine every few weeks. The driver side window switch doesn't always work consistently and should be replaced, the 968 hatch didn't line up perfectly so it is sticky when using the key or button to release the rear trunk, and there is a dent in driver side door (pictured).

Odometer Readings on VIN Check:

  • There are a number of erroneous mileage entries provided by state and 3rd party inspection stations over the cars 26 year life. The car was purchased from the 2nd owner in 2003 and since then has only been driven 14,000 miles. When my mechanic rebuilt the top end of the engine, he attested that the cylinder walls were so clean that there is no possibility of mileage rollback or issues.
  • Note that the report automatically rules out the erroneous mileage entries since they are either not possible or not from reputable sources. I am a 10 year PCA member and can show you in detail just how clean and new this car is for its age.

2014 Porsche 911 GT3 [w/video]

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

The Bearable Lightness Of Being
Start with a standard Porsche 911 Carrera and its 350-horsepower, 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder engine. Bore a crepe-thin slice of aluminum from each cylinder to get to 3.8 liters, add a wider track out back and two extra exhaust pipes and voila, you can append an S to the Carrera's name. Hang two sets of wet, multi-disc clutches along its spine and you can make that a 4, or a 4S. Bolt on two forced-induction compressors and piping, add two fender vents and comically wide rear tires and you've redeemed your ticket to a Turbo. Increase the boost pressure and swell the corral to 560 horses and you have the Turbo S, which is the Virginia Slims of the 911 line-up because it's come a long way, baby.
Or you can go in a different direction. At that second stop, grab the 3.8-liter and cart it over to the engineers at Porsche's development center in Weissach, Germany. If racing were meat, they would be among the alpha carnivores. The baseboards in their homes are probably painted with miniature billboards for motor oil and vintage cigarettes along the straights, red-and-white stripes around every corner.

Mysterious Porsche 911 Cabriolet spied, could be GTS

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

While Porsche's designers can jokingly be accused of being some of the laziest in the industry due to the incremental changes to the 911's iconic design, no such charge can be leveled against the engineers and product planning folks. That's because it seems like each week arrives with news of a new variation of the marque's iconic rear-engined sports car. So, for this week, we've brought you images of what we think is the new 911 GTS Cabriolet, undergoing testing in a thawing winter wonderland.
Now, what is it that gives this 911 away, compared to standard convertible? Well, the big thing is the new offset, center-mounted exhausts. Borrowing a page from the last Volkswagen R32, these exhaust tips are unlike anything we've seen from Porsche. Only the GT3 wears center pipes, and unlike these spy photos, the twin pipes on the track-minded 911 are stacked neatly alongside each other. The other change spotted by our spies is the set of active-aerodynamic flaps in the front bumper, which can automatically channel air toward the brakes for increased cooling, or close off to reduce drag, as needed.
Those exhausts are a pretty big design detail, and so far as we can tell is the only differentiator between the other 911s in this car's posse. Our spies speculate that this could be a 911 Speedster, but point out that both the canvas roof and windshield remain unchanged - the rumored Speedster model would almost certainly feature a different roof assembly along with a steeply raked windshield.

Porsche announces works team for United Sportscar Championship

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

Porsche is undoubtedly the most successful manufacturer in sportscar racing, and it's only upping its game. The German marque is launching its new LMP1 racer for Le Mans in pursuit of overall victory once again, and now that sportscar racing in North America is coming together under one banner in the United Sportscar Championship, Porsche has announced it is entering the fray with a works team here as well.
The new Porsche North America racing team will field two cars in the entire inaugural season of the Tudor United Sportscar Championship that's been formed out of the former Grand-Am and American Le Mans Series. The team will be based out of the Porsche Motorsport North America facility in Santa Ana, California, and will partner with three-time ALMS LMPC winners Core Autosport in getting a pair of the latest 911 RSR racecars to the front of the GT Le Mans class.
Drivers have yet to be announced, but are projected to be drawn out of Porsche's factory driver program, which includes such talents as Patrick Long, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Neel Jani. Keep reading below for the official announcement.
