I am selling my 1981 Porsche 928 with the rare options of 5 speed and the "Competition Group" package. This car is 1 of 458 made which this option and only 12% or so with the 5 spd. This package came out to wet the whistle of american buyers waiting for the 928 S to come out in 1983. It was equipped with a limited slip differential, Bilstein shocks, Recaro front seats, front and rear spoilers, a padded steering wheel, and flat faced forged 16" wheels which I do not have. The car is in overall good condition but will need some work. The odometer shows 115,000 or so miles. The motor runs and sounds great. It is the stock 219hp all aluminum V8. The gearbox is good but I am having a problem with what we think is the clutch. It will not engage all the way. I think the clutch disc has lost a spring or two and is blocking full movement, only guessing. The rear muffler is rotted. The body is in overall good shape with no rot. The paint looks good from 20 feet but up close it shows a lot of flaws. You can see a lot of rough touch ups and cracking in the paint. See pics. The interior is partially disassembled. The previous owner had the dash cluster and knobs and switches disconnected. Everything is there but needs to be plugged in and re-attached. The main gauge cluster got wet and has corrosion-I would replace. Alpine Cd player is there. A new console and dash cover was installed which is why everything is apart. Seats are faded but no rips and are not bolted in. All the carpet is there. Door panels are decent. Car looks good but needs work. You will not be driving it home. I can deliver locally to the right buyer. The car comes with a rare set of wheels from a 1994 928 S4 and are 17" with worn Dunlop S03 tires. The battery is holding on for dear life since it was dead for awhile. The center section of the front spoiler is missing. The car has all of the original Competition Group parts on it except the wheels. The Recaro seats are there but faded, not torn or ripped. The Limited Slip Differential is there as are the Bilstein Shocks. The padded steering wheel is there but not perfect. The car needs various little panels, trim, and carpet put back. I have everything except the console between the main one and the rear seat one. Door panels are good but need clips fixed. The car runs and drives and brakes work so it can be shipped with a national shipping company without problem. I will help deliver locally if it is close or do my best to help in getting shipping arranged all at my discretion but it is the sole responsibility of the seller to pay for and arrange shipping. As per Ebay rules, I will not end Auction early if there are any bids. Winning Bidder is the New Owner-not tire kicker when you show up. I suggest coming to see the vehicle before bidding ends so there are no issues on purchase. I have done my best to describe vehicle but ask me any questions if you need. Sale is as is, car needs work. Thanks

Le Mans-winning Porsche 935 K3 'seized' by DEA agents
Thu, 16 Jan 2014Porsche has won Le Mans more than any other marque, but only one of those overall race winners was actually based on a 911. That was the 1979 Porsche 935 K3, chassis number 009 00015 that was entered by brothers Don and Bill Whittington. It went on to win at the Nürburgring and Watkins Glen, and scored podium finishes at Sebring and Brands Hatch as well. In short, it's a historically significant and hugely valuable piece of motorsport history. And it was just seized by the DEA. Sorta.
After the Whittington brothers ran afoul of a handful of lawsuits and were implicated in smuggling narcotics, the car changed hands a few times before ending up in the noted collection of one Bruce Meyers. He had it at Laguna Seca earlier this month when a black Suburban, Dodge Charger and transporter truck pulled up with government plates, asked to speak with Meyer, presented him with a court order, loaded the car onto the truck and drove off.
Though familiar with the legal disputes surrounding the ownership of the car and the misdeeds of its famous original owners, Meyer was left understandably distraught over the events that had just unfolded in front of him to separate him from his pride and joy. (Or one of them, anyway; Bruce has got an eminently desirable collection of classic cars.) But here's the kicker: those DEA agents weren't actual DEA agents. Fortunately they weren't thieves, either. The actual story could have been the plot right out of Ocean's 14 if they ever made one and it focused on classic cars. (Is anyone in Hollywood listening?)
Porsche Supercup racer dies in crash in Australia
Tue, 15 Oct 2013Even with great strides made towards increasing the safety of motor racing, fundamentally it's still a dangerous sport. And now it has claimed another life.
That life belonged to one Sean Edwards, an accomplished GT racing driver. Edwards was killed at Queensland Raceway in Australia, riding shotgun in a Porsche 996 GT3 while acting as instructor. The driver was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries. Sean Edwards was 26.
The son of former F1 driver Guy Edwards (whose car he drove in the filming of Rush), Sean won the European GT3 Championship in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and drove a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 to repeat victories at the 24 Hours of Dubai as well as this year's Nürburgring 24 Hours. Edwards had been competing in the Porsche Supercup, whose standings he currently leads with just two rounds to go, and could be crowned champion posthumously.
Porsche inspecting 2,500 Euro-spec Macans for damaged brake boosters
Thu, 29 May 2014Porsche is investigating a potential brake issue with 2,500 of its new Macan CUVs. The inspection focuses on the state of the brake systems following tests that discovered the brake boosters may have been damaged during assembly.
Porsche has pointed out that, despite the concern, the affected Macans still meet safety regulations. The issue is predominantly found in European-spec Macans, which according to Porsche, have been delivered to consumers. Owners of affected vehicles in Europe will be notified and asked to come in for a brief, no-cost inspection.
American consumers, though, have no reason to worry. We reached out to Porsche Cars North America, who confirmed that the vehicles in question were assembled before US-spec cars were screwed together.
