Offered for your consideration is this very solid first edition model of the 928. Bought in Arkansas in 2004.Intalled new fuel pumps and filter, changed oil and filter, clutch plate master and slave cylinders. It was licensed and driven and developed a short in the headlight wiring loom due to installation of aftermarket tape deck. Dash is apart to find short. New switches included. Odometer, speedo and tach worked before removal. Workshop manuals and original keys included. Glass is all good. Replaced left front fender. According to the service record this car was originally purchased by the University of Arkansas. Could be a very nice classic "super" car when restored. Brakes are fresh. New instrument cluster purchased on ebay for $500.00. Some dings and a few minor rust spots. No rust through. Seats need to be reupholstered. Engine needs tune up. Many extra parts, including moulding and new fuse block current fuse block has some wires burned in back. The wiring needs to be checked and repaired where necessary. This is a mean sounding 928.I purchased it from the previous owner in Nebraska. Title is clear and open. I'm too old to crawl around on the ground anymore so I'm passing it on to someone who will appreciate. Starting bid is $800.00 with no reserve. Far less than what I paid for it. The engine alone is well worth that. This is an excellent project car, not a piece of junk. It's just going to take some work. If you have any questiond email me or call me at 620-340-0934 before you bid. The passenger window is down to the wiring problem and haven't been able to get it up

2015 Porsche Macan Turbo
Mon, 06 Jan 2014The misinformation first started back in May of 2007 - more than six years ago - when word came that Porsche was developing a compact utility vehicle to fill out its product line. Rumors swirled that the German automaker's future "Roxster" would be based on the then-upcoming Audi Q5. By September of 2010, the name had changed to "Cajun," but the vehicle was still expected to be "based heavily on the Audi Q5," said reports in the months that followed. One year later, the first test mules were spotted, the mechanics hidden beneath barely disguised Audi sheetmetal, which did nothing to give the upcoming model its own identity. And even after Porsche announced "Macan" as the vehicle's production name in early 2012, articles stated that it would "arrive on the same chassis as the Audi Q5, though with suspension, brake and engine tweaks suitable to the Porsche range."
It's no wonder that most still consider the all-new Porsche Macan nothing more than a heavily massaged Q5.
To help lift some of the mystery surrounding its latest release, Porsche hosted us in Germany for an in-depth look at its new crossover (while Europeans call it a "sport utility," its car platform allows us to call it a proper CUV). The technology workshop offered us insight to the design and mechanical execution, and it concluded with a short test ride. The trip was both enlightening and educational - and it left us with a whole new perspective on the Macan.
Porsche patent sketches show removable headrest wind deflector
Mon, 21 Oct 2013While driving around in a convertible might seem glamorous, ask anyone with long hair and they'll likely tell you how it really is: the wind buffets, your hair goes everywhere and it's anything but glamorous. That's why you see so many convertibles driving with their tops up, their windows up or wind deflectors in place. But Porsche is apparently preparing to kick it up to the next level.
These patent drawings have leaked out, demonstrating what appears to be some new kind of wind-deflecting device being developed by Porsche. The mechanism is apparently fitted to the headrest itself and designed to keep the wind buffeting specifically around the head down to a minimum while allowing the car's occupants to enjoy the top-down driving experience.
No word on when it might hit the market, but we won't be surprised to see this kind of device appear on a future version of the Boxster or 911 Cabriolet. But nowhere else: despite the apparent leak, the patent drawings suggest that Porsche will be keeping this technology proprietary. Whether sister brands like Volkswagen, Bentley or Lamborghini will get their hands on it remains to be seen.
Race Recap: 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans defines 'endurance'
Mon, 16 Jun 2014Commenting on the rush of events that rocked beginning and end of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Paul Truswell of Radio Le Mans said "the race is about the ability to endure, not just the ability of drivers to do what they do for a long time." The entire race machine, all the way down to the pit boards and radios, has to survive the stress and abuse of the entire day. This was the race to prove those words.
There were two Toyotas, two Porsches and three Audis, five of the seven led the race at some point, six of the seven ran in the top three. Toyota will be hugely disappointed that it didn't win when its car and drivers were so, so strong, but they gave Audi the kind of scare we haven't seen since the best of Peugeot's days, and Toyota did a better job of it even in the loss. Porsche blew away everyone's expectations, falling 3.5 hours short of a fairy tale ending that would have made Disney cry.
But Le Mans doesn't really do fairy tales. Well, not that fairy tale. Audi's Twitter handle during the event was #welcomechallenges. As usual, Le Mans answered for the entire field.
