1980 Porsche 924s Turbo

Low RESERVE
So we aquired this 924 that has been sitting for about 5 yr here in
the Az desert. Comes with clear AZ title.
It ran fine when parked a few yrs ago but something was wrong
with the trans or rear diff, at that time the car only had aprox 61k
original miles on it.
We tested to make sure the car runs and it runs with squeeze bottle
of gas and or starting fluid. Once we established the motor ok we then
went to the shifter issues. And this had the typical worn out shifter
bushings. We installed new shifter bushings and fixed up the linkage
and now the trans feels fine as does the shifter. But the best I can tell is
the original reason the car was parked was a broken rear diff.
The car only moves now since we removed the RR axle shaft.
Surprisingly enough it looks like a good used diff can be installed in a
few hours. Not as hard as it looks. Also being that this is an AZ car there
no NO rusty bolts under the car. We had the rear suspension etc down
the other day while fixing the shifter and it came apart quick and easy.
So this auction is for a nice RUST FREE AZ CAR that we know will run
with good gas and possibly a fuel pump needed. It has an exhaust leak
we heard while it was running. Transmission feels okay and shifts now
like it should and will prob need a rear diff.

DRIVETRAIN: original unmolested 2.0 turbo and 5 spd
motor does run . Motor we heard run and sounds good.
No smoke no wierd noises.
Car was parked yrs ago due to what we think it a broken
rear diff.

INTERIOR: was original Leather with sunroof and AC
PW and more, but AZ has been hard on the leather and
plastics, so expect some restoration inside and alot
of cleaning. It does seem to be all original and complete.

EXTERIOR: Super clean AZ rust free body which looks to be
original paint too.Front bumper is crooked and lower valance
does have a dent. No signs of any bondo or rust you would
find on most cars this old. Rear wing is pretty cool and original.

Suspension: this car has the very rare M471 4 wheel
disc option which automatically comes with the 5 lug
hubs and 928 style flat forged rims (Very rare)
With only aprox 61k on the car which could be original
the bushings may not be all the worn out .
Making the car a driver less costly for the buyer.

This car is 95% rust free Arizona car
Aprox 3400 Turbo 931 model 924s came to the USA
in 1980, making them as rare as a Boss Mustang or
an early Z28 Camaros
This is still a European Muscle car that was ahead of
its time and would be great to restore seeing that its
survived this long thanks to the AZ desert.

Ive driven these cars that are in nice shape and they
are fun to drive and have plenty of power and great
balance right out of the box.

These cars rarely even come up for sale anymore

Check out ALL the pics below ----->

it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a
slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra schroll
bar on the right side.
Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate.
more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics.

Porsche tuners 9ff, SpeedArt going bankrupt

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

Times are tough in Europe right now, and that unfortunately has reaped disastrous consequences for some of its smallest niche automakers. Gumpert, Wiesmann, Artega and Lola have all filed for bankruptcy this year, and it appears that tuners are not immune to the tough times, either.
Word coming in from across the pond suggests that 9ff and SpeedArt - two of the biggest names in Porsche tuning - have filed for bankruptcy as well. 9ff is best known for the GT9, a radical hypercar barely based on the 911, while SpeedArt was once of the foremost tuners of Porsches.
Fortunately there are still plenty of tuners ready to take a wrench to your Elfen, but the reported demise of these two makes the market a little bit smaller and - for Porsche enthusiasts - maybe the world a little bit lonelier, too.

Porsche announces works team for United Sportscar Championship

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

Porsche is undoubtedly the most successful manufacturer in sportscar racing, and it's only upping its game. The German marque is launching its new LMP1 racer for Le Mans in pursuit of overall victory once again, and now that sportscar racing in North America is coming together under one banner in the United Sportscar Championship, Porsche has announced it is entering the fray with a works team here as well.
The new Porsche North America racing team will field two cars in the entire inaugural season of the Tudor United Sportscar Championship that's been formed out of the former Grand-Am and American Le Mans Series. The team will be based out of the Porsche Motorsport North America facility in Santa Ana, California, and will partner with three-time ALMS LMPC winners Core Autosport in getting a pair of the latest 911 RSR racecars to the front of the GT Le Mans class.
Drivers have yet to be announced, but are projected to be drawn out of Porsche's factory driver program, which includes such talents as Patrick Long, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Neel Jani. Keep reading below for the official announcement.

Are you the next Porsche 911 GT3 RS or GT2?

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

Porsche typically keeps to a suitably fast schedule when it comes to rolling out increasingly hard-core performance versions of the 911. After the 997 Carrera debuted in 2004, the GT3 version followed in 2006, and by the end of the 2007, Porsche had rolled out both the GT3 RS and GT2 versions. Then the facelifted 997.5 came out in 2008 and it was back to the start: the GT3 came in 2009, the GT3 RS and GT2 RS in 2010, and the GT3 RS 4.0 in 2011. But things have slowed down some with the latest 991 generation.
The new Carrera came in 2011 and the GT3 followed in 2012. By recent history's example, we should have at least two more hardcore models by now, but we don't. Maybe the engineers in Zuffenhausen have had their hands full fixing the spontaneous-combustion issues with the existing GT3, or maybe their attentions have been focused elsewhere altogether. But if these spy shots are anything to go by, it seems like they're back on the job.
Now we don't know if this prototype foreshadows a new GT3 RS or a GT2, but it sure looks more hard-core than the existing GT3 that many purists have derided as too soft, what with its automatic transmission and four-wheel steering.
