1974 Porsche 914 Base Coupe 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Saint Helens, Oregon, United States
Very nice condition 1974 Porsche 914. A very nice driver quality car, exterior in nice conditions with minor rock chips here and there, no real dents to speak of. It doesn't appear this has ever had any bodywork and is pretty much void of rust. Looks like it was resprayed quite well in the original color. Not sure how long ago, I would guess 20 yrs or so. The gloss on the hood has faded, but is not peeling anywhere. The interiors of the front and rear trunk have only minor very light surface rust here and there. To be expected of a car that is 40 years old. The 914 shows that it has been garaged throughout its life. This is an originally fuel injected 1.8 liter. It has been had the 1.8 liter heads replaced with the 2.0 heads. I just removed the fuel injection system last fall and installed the dual empi set up. The fuel injection system was running well at time of removal and is included in the sale. I am a carburetor guy, so I wanted something that I could work on. FI could be reinstalled with no problems. Transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. Brakes work well, tires have plenty of tread, but are older. If I were to keep car, I would likely replace them. The key is starting to wear in the ignition as well, something I would probably replace in the future. Sometime it turns right away, sometimes it takes several tries. Interior is in very nice condition. A couple of cracks shown on the drivers seat on entry side only. Passenger is excellent. Dash has a couple of minor cracks as shown. I just replaced the interior carpet and there was no rust under the original. Headliner is in excellent condition and shows no wear. All glass is in good condition with no cracks, I believe there is a small rock chip in windshield. The doors shut perfectly with no sag. The rear trunk lid latches and closes better than any new car! Front closes perfect with no sag in the springs. This is an overall very nice car for 40 years old! It is not a show car by any means, just one that has been taken care of very well and enjoyed thoroughly! I welcome pre purchase inspections if you should choose to want to look at it in person. New outdoor car cover included ($300) Shipping is buyers responsibility, I will be flexible with shipping if you choose that option. It will need to be picked up within 7 days of auction end. If you pay with paypal, all paypal fees will be added to purchase price. $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction end, full payment due within 5 days. Vehicle runs well, sold as is. For additional pics, send question and I will supply a link to my photo bucket account. Ebay does not apparently allow links in their descriptions... |

Watch onboard video of the Porsche 918 Spyder's record 'Ring lap
Tue, 10 Sep 2013"Pics or it didn't happen!" You could almost hear the Internet shouting this when news started to trickle in about a sub-seven-minute Nürburgring lap by the new Porsche 918 Spyder. Well, after an official press release, which we ran earlier today, we have your "pics." Moving pics, to be more exact. Porsche has released on-board footage of the 6:57 lap.
The video, which runs about eight-and-a-half minutes, and shows the 918 from inside the car on a flying lap of the German track. Perhaps what's remarkable is just how undramatic it all looks. Sure, there's some sawing at the wheel from test driver Marc Lieb (one of three testers, including legendary rally king Walter Röhrl), but he makes wrangling the Martini-liveried 918 look kind of easy.
Take a look down below for the full, on-board video, and then click over and read our initial write-up from earlier this morning and take a glance at the more stylized video that Porsche originally posted.
Porsche gives GT3 owners extra year of warranty, new engines in production April 22
Sat, 12 Apr 2014While the auto industry reels from massive recall after massive recall, Porsche has quietly been working on a fix for an issue that's forced owners of the new 911 GT3 to park their track-ready rockets for fear of an engine fire. Thanks to a leaked letter from Porsche to a GT3 owner (which has been certified as real), we now have an idea of just where the German brand is at with the fix.
On April 22, Porsche will begin production of a new batch of GT3 engines for the 785 affected models across the globe. As you'll recall, the original issue rested with a screw joint that could loosen the connecting rod. The new engines have an "optimized piston rod screw connection," that should keep the connecting rod in place. Once technical validations are completed, production will kick off and new powerplants will be shipped around the globe for owners of the troubled cars.
Porsche will hand out a certificate to owners of affected cars once repairs have been completed, as a means of documenting the work. To make up for the trouble, Porsche will be giving owners an extra year on their new-vehicle warranty, while the 911 GT3 concierge will be reaching out to compensate them for having to park their car for so long.
Porsche goes Platinum with special edition Cayenne
Thu, 05 Dec 2013The other day, Porsche announced a new special edition of the Cayenne. We didn't pay it much heed because it appeared to be exclusive to Europe (or, at least, markets other than ours), but now Porsche has announced its availability in North America, as well.
It's called the Platinum Edition, and it's available exclusively on the entry-level models with either the 3.6-liter V6 or 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. You can tell the special edition apart from any other Cayenne by the silver details (accenting the grilles, window trim and rear spoiler) and its two-tone black and beige leather interior. But what makes it a compelling choice is the long list of equipment, which Porsche has identified as the most requested options and fitted them as standard, including the eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, Power Steering Plus, Park Assist, Convenience Package and Bose audio.
Pricing starts at $63,300 for the Cayenne Platinum Edition, or $66,900 for the Cayenne Diesel Platinum Edition. That represents a premium of approximately $13,000 over a bone-stock model, but actually saves you a few grand if you were going to select all those options anyway. Check out the press release below for all the details.
