1973 Porsche 914 1.7

This is a NO RESERVE auction and will end on Sunday March 2nd @ 9 pm EST.

Highest Bidder WINS!

Hey there,

Thanks for looking at my 914. I purchased this car last winter with the intention of poaching the transmission for another 914. I ended up rebuilding my transmission, so I’m selling this complete car. This would be the perfect starting point if you have a nice body to transplant the pieces. It needs a good amount of rust repair if you plan to restore as is. The car is mostly complete and full of trick / expensive pieces.

The previous owner used it as an autocross car and I am not sure if the engine / transmission are original to the car.

High points:

-          1.7 FI engine – was running when parked, but not getting spark now - $500

-          Side-shift transmission – No known issues - $500

-          4 Mahle Rims – Painted black which is peeling – no damage / GREAT tires - $1,000

-          Dino Steering wheel – with adapter in good shape - $250

-          AutoX suspension – STIFF - $750

o   Front & Rear sway bars

o   Not sure what shocks / torsion bars / springs

-          Nice doors – No dents / rust with nice chrome handles - $500

-          Nice Hood – No dents / rust - $250

-          Good Glass - $500

-          Fiberglass rear bumper – stock style - $150

More than $4,000 value just in those parts!

Issues:

-          Needs new floor pans

-          Needs new Longs

-          Rust in the rear trunk

-          Body panel rust

-          Missing

o   Seats

o   Front bumper

o   Valences

o   Misc. odds & ends

This Porsche is in non-running condition and you will need to pickup with a trailer or shipping service.

No extra parts / pieces are included in the sale except what is pictured on the car and the engine lid, also pictured.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

A Wicked-Fast Street Legal Multi-Tool
Walter Röhrl was carving up the circuit in the Porsche 911 Turbo S like a skilled Jedi Master - and I was sitting next to him, mesmerized by the breathtaking show. I had strapped myself securely into the front passenger bucket of the all-new coupe less than a minute earlier, expecting nothing more than a few quick laps around a track at the hands of another celebrated race driver. Been there, done that. Many times, actually.
Yet this was different. Röhrl was not only calculated and methodical in his approach, but his rally-tuned cerebrum appeared to be actively reading available grip levels while effortlessly tossing the all-wheel-drive Porsche into each corner at gut-wrenching speeds. His hands were moving rapidly, sending tiny steering corrections to the front tires, and he was using every inch of the track to extract more speed. We launched over a curb, dropped a wheel in the dirt and then drifted around a wide off-camber turn. His human precision and focus was astounding, and the performance he was extracting from the machine was just short of breathtaking.

Nick Murray's problematic Porsche 911 shows the power of a viral video

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

When Nick Murray took delivery of his 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S in June 2013, he had saved for it for the past five years. He didn't just pluck a random 911 off a dealer lot. He specially ordered his car with thousands of dollars in extras tailored just to him, and he captured all of the options on his YouTube channel. The love affair didn't last long. Eventually the channel became a place for Nick to air his growing list of grievances about his deteriorating 911. Eventually, his mix of righteous indignation and sarcasm went viral.
By late December, he had already had four warranty repairs done on the car. Things got much worse in March. The computers began resetting whenever Nick drove over large bumps. There was also an acrid, electrical smell that occasionally permeated the cabin. Murray filed for Lemon Law protection. Porsche Cars North America contacted him for the first time to fix the problem, but it didn't help.
Things culminated in April when Murray put up a new video that showed more troubles. He began arbitration with Porsche and asked for either his full purchase price back or an exact replacement. The company countered with a portion of what the car was worth, based on its mileage. Murray refused and turned to his YouTube watchers for help. He asked them to spread the word, and the video went viral with over 800,000 views as of this writing. Supporters posted it multiple times on Porsche's Facebook and Twitter sites.

Porsche forum claims eco-friendly 911 Blu coming to Frankfurt

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

The fiftieth anniversary of the Porsche 911 has been a nearly year-long affair, with unique tributes and even a special anniversary edition with plenty of retro throwbacks. The party is expected to continue through the end of 2013, and if one 911 enthusiast forum is right, we'll see yet another special edition model near the anniversary of the original car's September 1963 debut, when it arrives at next month's Frankfurt Auto Show.
It's called the 911 Blu, and where the 911 50 Years Edition was more expensive than a 911 Carrera S hardtop, the Blu would be an entry level special edition. That's right, a limited run car that actually slots in at the very bottom of the 911 range. According to Porsche forum 911UK.com, the new car would be priced at 74,600 euros ($98,718 at today's rates) or 64,750 pounds. That undercuts the price of a base 911 in Germany by nearly 16,000 euros and in the UK by nearly 8700 pounds (although to be fair, it's roughly identical to the price of a base 911 C2S in the US).
This 911 will reportedly feature a detuned flat-six with 300 horsepower and 211 pound-feet of torque.
