Porsche: 911 Carrera S on 2040-cars
Breaks, Virginia, United States
This is a great car and someone is going to get a lot of car for the money! Please note that I have 100% feedback on eBay for a reason. I describe things accurately and have nothing to hide. Your are bidding on a very nice, clean 2006 Porsche Carrera S. This car was previously involved in a front end collision and professionally repaired. Drives strait, and tracks very true. Im very particular about my vehicles, especially if they have been in any type of collision. The gaps on doors, hood, fenders, etc. are perfect. The paint is beautiful and shines with a deep gloss. You would not know that this car had been in an accident unless you looked at the title. This car runs perfect and has plenty of pulling power. The undercarriage is bone dry with no leaks, drips, or wet spots. The interior of the car shows like new and still has the smell of fresh, new leather. The seat bolsters show no signs of wear. The only noticeable flaw on the interior of the car is the thermostat controls. The rubber coating has started to wear off. This can be easily repaired using Sticky No More products. The wheels on the car are aftermarket and are in perfect shape with absolutely no curb rash or scuffs. The tires are like brand new. My last driver was a 1998 Ferrari 355 GTS and its safe to say that this car has more pulling power and get up and go than my old 355. Bid with confidence as this is a turn key sports car that needs nothing. You will not find more car for the money! Please note that the mileage may change as I do continue to drive on nice sunny days.

China bans military license plates on luxury autos
Wed, 01 May 2013Driving a vehicle with a military license plate in China provides many privileges. Legally reserved for official vehicles only, the designation apparently allows drivers to enjoy special liberties on the roads, including breaking traffic laws, filling up with free fuel and receiving light-and-siren escorts through congested cities. So attractive are the benefits that there is a secondary market for used legal and counterfeit plates - especially among those wealthy enough to afford luxury cars. But all of that is reportedly coming to an end, as President Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission, is on a mission to fight corruption in his country.
A new license plate system goes into effect today, and it is designed to "maintain social harmony, stability and the reputation of the military," says the PLA Daily, the armed forces' official newspaper. While the abuse has been going on for many years, the internet has put the spotlight on the bad behavior, and the negative press does not represent the morals and true colors of the armed forces, say officials.
While military-plated Porsche drivers have been singled out as offenders, Bloomberg notes that all vehicles with engine displacements above 3.0 liters and with a sticker price in excess of about $73,000, will be banned from receiving military plates. This includes vehicles from Audi, Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln and the Volkswagen Phaeton. Even if drivers are savvy enough to circumvent the new issuing system, the military has put technology at toll gates to catch users of counterfeit plates. There has been no word on the punishment if caught.
Leno buys classic Porsche 356 Carrera 2, seeks out and finds perfect expert for help
Mon, 19 Aug 2013The world of collector cars is fairly tight-knit when you get down to individual models. Need proof? Just take a look at this latest video from Jay Leno's Garage. The subject is a gorgeous 1963 Porsche 356 Carrera 2. Jay, being known as quite a collector, got a call from someone looking to sell. While doing his due diligence and looking for a 356 expert to go over the car with him, he came across John Willhoit.
Where the story gets weird is when Leno is asked the license plate number - it turns out that Willhoit, owner of Willhoit Restorations, had restored the exact same car more than 30 years prior. He then sold it to the same person that was looking to give it to Leno. What follows is a truly interesting video on the little quirks of the 356, along with Willhoit's personal history on a car he hadn't seen since 1976.
This is a bit more mechanically detailed than Leno's normal videos, but it's on a very interesting subject. Take a look below for the entire film.
'Born of a Blue Sky' brings the Amelia Island Concours to you
Fri, 03 May 2013The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance has more clout every year and is getting a reputation as Pebble Beach minus the madness. Held in March this year, it celebrated Ducati and the 50-year anniversaries of Lamborghini, the Corvette Sting Ray, Porsche 911 and the Ford GT40.
Justin Lapriore was there, and seemingly everywhere, getting footage of the various wares on display on the lawns and the sand and the runway. The resulting video, Born of a Blue Sky, is a 16-minute survey of some of the finer sights and plenty of engine sounds. Check it out below.
