1993 Porsche 911

This is an outstanding 1993 911 with many extras and updates.  It has been diligently serviced and maintained throughout its life, and recently had a complete maintenance overhaul as detailed below.  Not only have many major aspects of the car been recently refreshed, its look is unique on the road with a lower and wider wheelbase/suspension than a stock 911, resulting in a beautiful profile.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • ENGINE – The engine is in outstanding condition.  Recently, it had a complete maintenance review (see below for extras).
  • UPGRADED SUSPENSION – The car has H&R Performance Springs (which lowers the car’s profile by about 1.5 inches with improved handling).
  • UPGRADED WHEEL PROFILE – The car has H&R Wheel Spacers (which widens the wheel stance and improves performance with lower roll center and increased lateral stability).
  • UPGRADE PERFORMANCE – The engine has an Enhanced Engine Chip (along with a cut open airbox cover modification), adding 17hp above stock.
  • EXTERIOR - The exterior is in very clean condition with a few very minor signs of exterior wear.  The paint is ORIGINAL except that both bumpers were expertly restored this summer. This was to only eliminate some normal bumper peeling.
  • INTERIOR – The interior is in outstanding condition.  The leather seats were restored (including the replacement of reupholstered leather).  Additionally, the radio is a brand new Alpine CDE-143BT.
  • FRONT TRUNK – The interior front trunk is clean.  Note that the original tool kit is missing.

It has been my weekend car, but it is no longer practical to garage it in NYC so sadly I need to sell it.  Currently, it is being garaged in the Ann Arbor area.  It runs and drives perfectly, accelerates like new, and handles straight, true and tight.  This car is ready to be a daily driver or a weekend toy.

It is hard to find a better 964, especially one which has so many recent service and maintenance updates including the all-important investment I've made to address the common problem of oil leaks that will be found on Porsches of this era.

I am happy to answer any and all questions.  If you live in the Ann Arbor area, please arrange for a test drive.  We also plan to post additional photos.

Jaguar F-Type coupe to cost more than convertible?

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Jaguar may price the much-rumored F-Type Coupe above the F-Type Convertible, if a report from Australia's Drive is to be believed. What makes Jag think that such a pricing strategy would work? Porsche. Take a look at the German manufacturer's consumer site, and you'll notice that the Boxster is less expensive than the Cayman, despite being essentially the same car.
It's a fair point, and a price premium does a good job of emphasizing the sporting chops of the coupe over the open-air experience that normally entitles convertibles to higher MSRPs. It's unclear just how closely Jaguar will follow Porsche's example, though.
Both the Cayman and Cayman S boast an extra ten horsepower over a Boxster or Boxster S, and while this bump in grunt is negligible in every situation but an argument over which is "best," it isn't something to be ignored in the F-Type, particularly as cranking more power out of its supercharged engines should be a rather simple matter.

2014 Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 Cup step out early

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Though Porsche won't be feeding us the full 911 enchilada until tomorrow's Geneva-based festivities, we have managed to scare up some official images of the 2014 911 GT3, as well as the all-new 911 GT3 Cup. As Porsche is celebrating 50 years of the 911, we anticipate a good day for great cars.
The new GT3 looks every bit the proper successor to the racy 911 nameplate, with a fixed rear wing large enough to serve cocktails on, a curvaceous body kit and 20-inch wheels that offer a dominating on-road stance. It's a good bet that Porsche will have coaxed something like 450 horsepower from the naturally aspirated, 3.8-liter flat-six engine that hangs over the car's rear axle. A seven-speed manual and Porsche's own PDK transmission are the likely gearbox offerings.
Should the mental quickness and imposing wingery of the standard GT3 not be enough for you, future racecar driver, Porsche is also bringing a GT3 Cup car to Geneva. The German automaker has given just a few scant details about this Cup car - 460 hp on tap, a production run of just 2,400 units - including three images of the kitted out racer. Certainly more and finer details will emerge, when Porsche shines the spotlights on its new 911s tomorrow.

Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach package does 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

Porsche marketers are having a field day with the 918 Spyder after some last-minute tuning improved the car's performance. They now say that it's so fast it's already beaten itself. Let us explain: Using a Weissach package-equipped 918 as an example (which reduces the plug-in hybrid supercar's weight through the deletion of some interior items, more generous use of carbon fiber and magnesium wheels), the car's previous official 0-62 miles-per-hour time of 2.8 seconds has been cut to 2.6. Additionally, 0-124 mph takes 7.2 seconds and 0-186 mph is dispatched in 19.9 seconds, times that were reduced by half a second and 2.1 seconds, respectively.
In all-electric mode, a non-Weissach pack 918 does 0-62 mph in 6.2 seconds (with the package, 6.1 seconds), down from 6.9 seconds. Efficiency is also improved thanks to the final tuning. The New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) rating of a Weissach pack-equipped car equates to 94 miles per gallon, up three mpg compared to before. That's pretty good for a car with 887 horsepower!
Check out the press release below for more details on how Porsche's final tuning measures improved its flagship supercar.
