1964 Porsche 356 C Coupe

Fully Restored, Standout Example

This is perhaps the best 356 Coupe you can find for sale right now. An absolute standout example, this car has been comprehensively restored. Very few use-post restoration.

The car has outstanding gaps throughout. There is absolutely no rust or evidence of repair anywhere on the car, including the underside. The floors, bottom of the doors and battery box are all rigid and flush, and have recently been detailed during the restoration.

The window frames, interior and exterior door handles, headlight rims, bumpers, wheels and hub caps, gauges, and seat supports in excellent shape. The seats have been reupholstered in high quality, soft, leather. The carpets have been replaced with the correct tweed and inlays added. The headliner is new and perfect.

All the gasketing and rubber trim throughout the car has been replaced. Additionally, the headlight, taillight, and brake light lenses are all new. Even the wiper assemblies have been replaced with factory correct, new units.

The paint is smooth and even and of extremely high quality. There are no chips, dents, dings or scrapes anywhere on the car. The door jams are clean and neat, as are all the gutters.

Mechanically the car is extremely robust with both the motor and transaxle having been rebuilt and balanced at the time of the restoration. All gauges and switches are fully operational. The car drives tight and sounds strong, as you would expect from a restoration of this caliber.

This example is fitted with the factory supplied VDO dash clock.  With the car comes the original jack and spare wheel.

This is the car for the Porsche enthusiast who wants the very best 356 Coupe he can get his hands on. We invite the most stringent of inspections. The next owner will absolutely not be disappointed.

CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over

Mon, 03 Sep 2012

After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.

Porsche offering new tire option for Carrera GT

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Let's face it: finding new tires for older cars can be challenging if tire manufacturers have stopped carrying the right sizes (this writer went through Hell to find a set of 205/60-13s). But what about tires for low-volume supercars, which use sizes that often won't fit on high-volume production vehicles? The Porsche Carrera GT isn't that old and tires are still available in the correct sizes, but the German automaker has shown its support of keeping them on the road by working with Michelin to give owners yet another tire option. Enter the Carrera GT-specific Pilot Super Sport.
It's common knowledge that tires are one of the most important pieces of the performance puzzle, and Porsche claims that the PSS tires, sized 265/35ZR-19 front and 335/30ZR-20 with Porsche's "N0" rating, will improve the Carrera GT's handling and stability all the way up to its claimed top speed of 205 miles per hour. That's important for a car with razor-sharp handling characteristics. They'll also net drivers a 10-percent increase in fuel economy on regular roads and up to 20 percent on racetracks, Porsche says.
The PSSs use cutting-edge tire technology to harness the Carrera GT's 610-horsepower. They have a dual-compound tread that's different from the inside of the tire to the outside, which, Porsche says, helps steering precision and increases maximum grip. Aramid fibers, which are lightweight but just as strong as steel, are used in the tire's belt to reduce unsprung weight.

Can a Corvette really be compared to a 911 with options costing more than the Chevy?

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

In this latest video from Drive, Chris Harris asks straight away, "Can you still compare a base Corvette to a Porsche Carerra?" That's an particularly interesting question in this film, as the 911 in question is a 400-horsepower Carrera S model that's been fitted with $60,000 in options. Base price of a Corvette Stingray? $51,995. Harris' tester features an automatic and some other goodies that push it right up to that $60,000 range. So yes, the options on the Porsche cost as much as this entire 460-hp Chevrolet.
Harris stresses that this isn't a full review, but he does exercise both cars in a more composed manner before reverting to his traditionally exuberant driving style. The impressions are, as always, spot on, with Harris favoring the pointy nature and V8 power of the Stingray, while enjoying the gearbox (Porsche's exceptional PDK transmission) and just about everything else on the 911.
Take a look below for the latest video from Drive, and let us know if you agree with Mr. Harris' views on these two sports cars.
