You are bidding on a 1963 Porsche Type B Ruetter Cabriolet with a Super-90 Engine. This classic open-top Porsche has had an older restoration but it is in excellent condition. The exterior is white (factory color was grey) with a factory red interior and a new black top. Of 9208 total 356 cars built in 1963, only 933 were cabriolets and 25% of the cabs had the most powerful Super-90 engine. This car appears to have no rust. The paint is good with a few small chips. Chrome door handles have minor pitting. The hub cap crests are original and have minor wear. The minor cosmetic defects could be easily fixed but I left them to illustrate the genuine nature of the car as so many 356 cars are fakes. The interior shows look great with minimal wear and the red upholstery has no defects and includes both headrests. The rear floor mats and bonnet tray are new.  Original type radio. Original steering wheel. The car has an original 6V electric system, new bulbs in most sockets. Mechanically the car started easily but it has not been driven for two years and was only driven for short excursions in dry weather. The Solex PII-40 carburetors were rebuilt. Oil pressure lines, oil filter, spark plugs, ignition cables, coil, and engine rubber seal are new. The gas tank was acid washed and flush-the fuel cock has been removed. An extra fuel pump is available. I have a certificate of Authenticity from Porsche of North America which shows the factory original specifications and I have the original new car Porsche pamphlet. The chassis number is 158236. Engine number is P-8033592, case 616.07.85) which is the correct Porsche Type B period and type (1961), but not the original engine from the factory. The odometer shows  about 36,000 miles but the true mileage is unknown. This is an excellent opportunity to own and enjoy an appreciating, quality, collectable classic Porsche. I love the car and hope you will too.

Porsche 991 vs. 930 Flatnose in 911 Turbo convertible faceoff

Tue, 15 Jul 2014

The Porsche 911 Turbo has a legacy of being a tough car to drive. With a ton of power set right over the rear wheels, its reputation is to lose control as soon as the driver stops concentrating. However, this isn't quite so true anymore. The modern ones are tamed through technology with things like hydraulically controlled engine mounts, not to mention all-wheel drive. In its latest video, Autocar tries to decide whether 25 years of progress really makes the turbo a better vehicle.
It's summer, so what better version to compare than the 911 Turbo Cabriolet? In one corner, Autocar has the latest and greatest 2014 version pumping out 513 horsepower and 486 pound-feet of torque with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Its challenger is a 1989 911 flatnose convertible sporting 326 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque. It's a truly rare car in the UK with only eight of them remaining on the roads in that region.
Granted, this test isn't so much a battle as it is a comparison. There's no question that the modern 911 would beat the classic in practically every objective category. What the video aims to find out is whether the flatnose is better in subjective measurements like its "feel." Scroll down to watch these two droptop Porsches square off.

Porsche working on turbo V12 for Putin limo project?

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

Porsche is best known for building very well-regarded sports cars and better-selling utility vehicles. Come to the company with a big enough bag of cash, though, and the Porsche Engineering division can create just about anything. The group's past projects include working with Harley-Davidson, Mercedes-Benz and corporate cousin Audi, but if rumors prove true, then its latest partner might be the last one you'd expect.
Russian website Wroom reports that Porsche Engineering is building the engine for the Project Cortege government limousine project for Russian president Vladimir Putin. The mill is supposedly a turbocharged V12 displacing between 6.0- and 6.6-liters and making around 800 horsepower. When complete, it will reportedly be built by ZMZ with Russian-sourced parts.
The limo is expected to debut in 2017, according to Wroom, but it's just the beginning of Putin's grandiose plans, which also goes by the name of the Motorcade Project. The same platform is also meant to underpin several vehicles for use by the government, including an SUV, a small bus and a sedan. All of them would reportedly have a longitudinally mounted engine and all-wheel drive.

Porsche Cayman gets a new face

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

We've already seen photos of the facelifted Porsche Boxster out testing, but we're now seeing these same changes making their way onto the hardtop Cayman coupe. Cosmetically, the next round of Porsche's smallest sports cars isn't vastly different, with redesigned headlamps, LED running lights (like its big brother, the 911), and new taillamps that actually aren't visible on the prototype seen here.
The big news for the updated Boxster/Cayman range is the long-rumored four-cylinder engine. Recent reports suggest we could see four-pots with displacements of 1.6, 2.0, or 2.5 liters, and with output ratings as high as 360 horsepower. Of course, these new four-cylinder mills would be both turbocharged and direct-injected.
It's unclear whether or not the six-cylinder engine range will also be updated when this new Cayman comes to market. In any case, we expect to see it bow in the relatively near future. Stay tuned.
