Additionally the brakes were rebuilt with new wheel cylinders all the way around for a total cost of $1465 on 5/24/14 (receipt in hand).

As you can see the previous owner has done a lot to keep the car in top mechanical condition and very drivable. The engine is a 912 (616/40 is stamped on the bolt boss under the generator) and it starts and runs just beautifully. I have driven this car and it is just a pleasure to jump in, turn the key and it starts right up and off you go! Tires are excellent, chrome wheels present well, and brakes stop the car well.

The paint is older with much patina, that is to say, there is some crazing in the paint. Previous owner said that paint was done many years ago. It is maroon/purple, a color that was used on Porsche 911s in the 1970s. The previous owner also said to me that he believed the interior to be original and that the car was actual mileage of 80, 685 although he said he didn't get the documentation to support this.

I have taken over 180 photos and posted them to this link:

All gauges work, speedometer, odometer, windshield wipers, headlights, turn signals, gas gauge and engine temperature gauge; horn is not working; hand brake works, windows go up and down easily and smoothly; doors closely well and have that characteristic Porsche "thunk" when they close. Door lock works with key. Front and rear closing panels are excellent as are the floors and battery box with no rust evident. Door bottoms are very nice and show no rust as well. All gaps are even on the doors and hood and engine lid. It appears that the car has never been in an accident. There is a small dent on the passenger side top of the fender where something (like a ladder) fell on it and put a slight crease on the fender. Please see the picture.

You can buy with confidence. This is a really nice well maintained car over the years, one that is increasingly hard to find as a very nice dependable driver. It has classic lines and draws a crowd wherever it is parked. We are a licensed and bonded and insured auto dealer in North Carolina and we have an "A+" rating with the Better Business Bureau. Our dealership is: T.J. Auto, Inc., 1312 Capital Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27603.  The title to the vehicle is in hand and everything is in order on our end. We can assist with domestic and international shipping (buyer pays for shipping). If you have any questions please call Tom Nelson @ 919-522-4412Thank you for considering our 1959 Porsche 356A Coupe!

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.

Corvette gets slidey with Britain's best performance cars

Sat, 18 Oct 2014

Autocar wants to find Britain's best driver's car, and it's challenging a murderers' row of some of the world's best performance vehicles to find out, including the latest Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. All of them were therefore assembled at the Castle Combe Circuit to find a winner.
If it wants to take the crown from this pack of mostly European competitors, the 'Vette has to beat some steep competition. Its challengers include monsters like the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Ariel Atom 3.5R and Jaguar F-Type Coupe. As a further hurdle for the winner to clear, Autocar also has last year's champ among the fighters - the Porsche 911 GT3.
Even if you're not at all interested in the C7, there's still something here for practically any fan of fast cars. The competitors include relative oddities among the pack like the Renault Mégane RS Trophy and Alfa Romeo 4C. Plus, Autocar has some well-positioned microphones that let you hear the Atom wailing like a banshee and the roar of the 458 Speciale. Check out the video to see which one of these all-stars takes home the award this year.

VW confirms development of 10-speed dual clutch, 134-hp/liter diesel

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

Each year, the Vienna International Motor Symposium showcases some of the up-and-coming technologies automakers are engineering for the use in passenger cars, and Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed some big developments VW is working on for its future products. Winterkorn discussed a multi-faceted approach that VW is looking to reduce its fleet fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Some of the bigger news he discussed included a "high-performance" diesel engine that will produce 134 horsepower per liter and a 10-speed DSG automatic transmission. While no specific applications were mentioned, we can only hope this is for the Audi R4 we keep hearing about.
Another topic he touched on that caused us to perk up our ears was had to do with VW's plug-in hybrid technology. While we know the PHEV versions of the Audi A3 and Porsche Panamera are on the way, Winterkorn also said that these two models will be followed up by Golf, Passat, Audi A6 and Porsche Cayenne plug-in models. Scroll down for a press release highlighting the automaker's future fuel-saving initiatives.
