Hanover Park, Illinois, United States

You are looking at a 1991 Pontiac Trans Am GTA 350.  This vehicle is in excellent condition and super clean inside and out with no rust on the body.  It has the gold and silver GTA style wheels which are in excellent condition.  The paint is original brilliant red metallic and is in very good condition.  I would rate it an 8.5 out of 10 but please judge for yourself based on the pictures.  The drivetrain consists of the original TPI 350 V8 with a 700R4 transmission with 98,400 original miles on the odometer.  The rear spoiler was starting to peel slightly (very common on these cars) so I removed it and had it professionally repainted last month and it looks perfect.  This GTA fires right up every time and runs very strong and shifts good.  The interior is black and in excellent condition with no tears in the leather.  The dash and headliner are perfect.  Everything is in good working order including, power steering, power brakes, pop-up headlamps, all accessory lighting, power windows, power mirrors, electronic hatch release, windshield wipers, fog lights, CD-Player, radio, power antennae, heat, AC, power seats, gauges, etc…  This car 23 years old and in very nice condition but not a 100% restored show car so expect a rock chip or scratch here and there.  Please look carefully at the pics and if you have any questions or concerns please ask before bidding.

Here are some things to note about the car:

·         New exhaust which consists of Hooker Headers, new cat, new pipes, muffler and tips.

·         New Bosch 22 lb. Fuel injectors

·         New EGR valve

·         New Fuel Filter

·         New thermostat

·         New distributor

·         New hood prop supports

·         New power window motors

·         3.42:1 rear differential

·         Oil just changed

·         Tires in front are almost new.  Rear tires are probably at about 30% life left

·         Original owner’s manual and window sticker are included

·         I have a shift-kit and trans filter that go with the car but are not installed

I have made every attempt to describe the car as accurately and honestly as possible.  Please contact me for questions or if you would like to view the vehicle.  This vehicle is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
