Up for auction is a 1989 Pontiac Trans Am Turbo with TTops - 20th Anniversary Pace Car #1133 of 1500 made. Very rare and in excellent condition. Car is very clean and has been garage kept. Body and undercarriage are rust free and engine is in stock condition except for a few mods. Interior is near perfect with all interior parts intact and working, no dry rotting or cracks in dashboard nor fading of colors, carpet is clean and not worn, seats are in great shape as are door handles/panels. Body is straight and has a few small dings from mishandling on hood near nose but no dents or scratches which would require repair. Recently buffed and had pace car decals installed by a custom paint shop. All parts are original except for fuel pump which was recently replaced with a Wallbro 255 and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Car has moderate aftermarket performance parts such as K&N filter, ultra chip, 160 degree thermostat, boost controller and a scanmaster.  All lights and gauges are working as designed. This vehicle has new tires all around and recently was serviced for fuel pump with hot wire kit, fuel filter, coil pack, spark plugs & wires, and new heavy duty turbo hoses/clamps. Car has some additional bolt ons such as torque strap, and a tps tec device to keep tps at optimum voltage level.  AC blows ice cold, all power accessories including cruise, power windows, power door locks, power antenna, power hatch release and radio are functional. Radio also has steering wheel controls. Car has 44K original miles, I am the 3rd owner, Car originally sold in New York and then went to Nevada, Wisconsin and to Florida where I purchased it. I have original owners kit which contains the OEM decals (decals on car are aftermarket) and window sticker. The only issue is the rear spoiler is cracked but not falling apart and it is not affecting the mounting to the hatch and a minor oil pan gasket leak, Car is garage kept and adult driven/maintained. Shown by appointment only. This car will not disappoint. I am selling for personal reasons. This is an actual pace car and not a clone. I have paperwork to prove it. This is basically a Buick GNX in and Fbody! I rate this car as a 9 out of 10 and guarantee my price is lower than others you will find with similar miles in this condition!!!!! Thanks for looking!

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
