1989 Pontiac Trans Am Turbo 20th Ann 35000 Miles Needs Transmission Low Reserve! on 2040-cars

Year:1989 Mileage:35000
Location:

Saint-Basile-le-Grand, Quebec, Canada

Saint-Basile-le-Grand, Quebec, Canada

1989 Turbo Trans Am 20th Ann edition.  The vehicle is located in Saint Basile le grand in Quebec, Canada so if you don't have a passport of other means of crossing the border please do not bid.  The vehicle is an American car so taking it back across the border is no problem and there are no fees involved because I have a copy of the American title as well as the current Canadian title. The Canadian title is taken to the DMV just like any other title.

Car has 35000 miles on it but needs some work. The transmission is blowen and needs to be rebuilt or exchanged. The engine runs perfect and had a few performance upgrades done by Joe Buichii in Montreal including 260h cam kit, TA60 turbo, mild ported heads, adjustable boost controller, modified oil pump, Taylor 10mm wires, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and #60 injectors.

The transmission has been built for strip/street performance with a higher stall converter but as noted it is broken. It works in first and reverse but will not shift out of first at all. The speedometer stopped working at the same time that the tranny stopped shifting.

The interior needs a bit if work, the leather is dried and cracking a bit but you could probably get away with just having the drivers bolster repaired.

The paint is also dried up and cracking and would need a repaint in the near future. The panels are all pretty straight and line up really good. The passengers side door could use a slight adjustment but that's pretty much it.

The car does need work but it is a very low mileage TTA with a perfectly clean title.

The reserve is very low and the car must go. I was going to keep it and repair it myself but I've lost interest, I've owned the car for close to 3 years.

Please feel free to email me with any questions, I have more photos and a few videos of walk arounds of the car

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
