1989 Pontiac 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am for sale.  One family owned since new.  42,200 miles.  Car #826 of 1500.  Leather, T-top car.  Has the Buick 3.8 turbo V6 with auto trans.  Have the complete original owner's box and window sticker.  Mainly stock with the exception of a ATR polished MAF pipe with K & N 9" cone filter, aftermarket chip, 160 degree thermostat, and 3" ATR stainless catback exhaust.  Brand new Optima red top battery this year.  Fresh royal purple fluids in engine, tranny, and rear this year.  Brand new heater core.  Over the years I've replaced the power antenna, fixed the trunk latch, rear spoiler was replaced with a fiberglass one and painted to match, headlight motors were rebuilt and I have a extra drivers side motor, replaced several sensors, and normal tune up parts.  I have most all of the original parts taken off including the stock splitter style exhaust tips, original plug wires, and air cleaner assembly.  Paint is original with the exception of the spoiler and the hood vents, which I had painted when I did the spoiler.  Paint shines very nice, and looks very good for a 24 year old car, it does have a few small rock chips behind wheel wells which is to be expected on a car of this age that is original.  Car is very strong and tight.  The motor is what makes these cars special anyway.  Car never has been abused or carried to the strip, however a couple of mustang drivers may have had their feelings hurt on occasion.  I've owned the car since 1997, when purchased from my parents with 38000 miles on it.  I've only put about 4000 miles on it since then.  The main thing that needs to be addressed is the air conditioning needs to be charged or changed over to 134.  I only carry the car out a few times a year, so I never got around to fixing it,  everything is still there though.  The driver's seat bolster shows some aging which is common, as well as the tops of the rear seats, not bad but not perfect.  Also the headliner has finally started to sag a little after 24 years.  T-tops do leak a little when I wash it.  Car hasn't seen a rain drop in years.  Tires are Firestone Firehawk SZ50s and have about 2000 miles on them, but they are 11 years old and a couple of them are starting to show a little checking around edges.  Comes with custom car cover with bag with anniversary logo, the special GM service manual for this car, and a binder full of magazine articles and ads that featured the car.  In case you noticed it doesn't have the turbo emblems behind the front fenders,  GM ran out midway through the production run, so this is one of the few that didn't get the emblems.  I kind of liked that it makes it more of a sleeper without them.  Same goes with the exhaust tips.  Current exhaust turns down under bumper.  Stock tips wouldn't fit the 3" pipe, but there are tips that can be bought to fit that look original.  I just preferred the sleeper look.  Exhaust sounds very mean, way meaner than stock.  Has a nice rumble, but is not overly loud.  This is very clean collectable car.  I get compliments every time I carry it out.  This is a 24 year old car and is sold as is where is.  Has April 2014 VA inspection.  $500 nonrefundable paypal deposit to made within 24 hours of auctions close.  Remainder in cash or money order.  Cashiers check will be accepted if I meet you at your bank where it will be obtained.  I have clear VA title in hand.  Pickup or shipping is the buyer's responsibility, however I will help however possible.  Car is for sale locally, so buyer reserves the right to end auction if sold.  Please email with any questions.  Thanks for looking!

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
