I've decided to part with this as it's become too difficult to get my 2.5 year old in and out of it - That and the seats hurts my wife's back - so it's a losing battle in this family!  Here is the quick story:

Purchased in 11/12 from second owner from PA (this means the care DOES have rust - nothing major, but it's there).  This owner was a mechanic so he took good care of it.  He rebuilt the transmission about 2,000 miles ago and the engine (bottom half) was rebuilt around 120K and bored .40 over.  He did not have the receipts for everything he did but I have been in constant contact with him as I continued work on the car so I have 100% confidence in all the work.  Has Bosche 25lb fuel injectors and an MSD ignition, as well as adjustable fuel pressure regulator and high pressure oil pump (gauge usually reads off the chart)

These cars were designed to run hot from GM so both cooling fans are controlled by 2 toggle switches tastefully mounted to the dash.  This gives you control over how cool you want the engine to run.

The original tape deck works and I had a 3.5 jack installed on the front so you can plug in an iPod/DROID/CD Player or any device that uses a standard headphone jack.  The steering wheel controls work perfect.

Here is a list of NEW parts on this car:

NEW fiberglass rear spoiler with fresh black paint
Spohn Weld-in Tubular Sub Frame Connectors - These came bare metal and I painted red.  They make jacking up the car SO EASY!
Spohn Wonderbar - steering brace - This is also red
Edlebrock 3 point strut tower brace - this is black but I have NOT installed it yet - Will come with car
New Strut tower mounts
New Monroe front struts
New Monroe rear shocks
New 4 tires - less than 200 miles on them
New Alignment
All new buttons for power windows & mirrors as the old ones had faded writing
New turn signal/Cruise control stalk as the old one had faded writing
New BLACK carpeting with MAS backing - trunk piece has been installed - the rest is still in the box
New throttle body
Brakes have plenty of meat on them
New 160 degree thermostat
NEW AC compressor
NEW AC condenser
AC is all new and filled and ready to go
New GTA emblems
New dashpad
New headliner
New Rear hatch struts
New rear hatch pulldown motor
New door lock actuators
New oil change
New alignment
New fuel filter

The engine runs really strong (at 170k it would feel like a dog if it hadn't been rebuilt) It has no leaks underneath, and there is no slipping in the transmission.  The drive train is just very solid and should give many more miles of trouble free driving.

Here is what the car needs:

Exhaust - has Edlebrock TES Headers > Y-Pipe (needs replacing) > high flow CAT > Magnaflow 3' back ( all needs replacing)
Minor surface rust underneath, one bigger spot in rear wheel well
Driver side seat rip
Cigarette hole in rear seat
Spoiler mounted brake light does not work - must be a wire somewhere as I have replaced the bulbs

I'm sure I am missing a few things - the car is 25 years old so you will discover something else it needs that I may not have remembered - It's in the PROCESS of being restored - so be smart and expect that.  The paint is almost 2 years old but has a few marks here and there - it was a $2,000 paint job but it's an 8 out of 10 I'd say - Looks fantastic when polished but you see imperfections when looking closely.

I will help with arranging shipping, or even deliver or meet you within a hundred or so miles.  Email with any questions

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
