I'm selling a show quality 1987 Pontiac Trans Am GTA. The car just 15,174 ORIGINAL DOCUMENTED MILES. 1987 was the first year of the GTA Trans Am and this is by far one of the nicest examples anywhere. This GTA is very nicely optioned with WS6 suspension, t-tops and the ultra rare 5 speed manual transmission and 3.45 gears! Of the 9481 GTAs produced in 1987 only 706 were 5 speeds. The torch red exterior and black interior is an excellent color combo as well. The car was sold new in GA and has lived in the south its entire life so it has never seen any snow and very little rain if any just recently moved to NJ.

Paint and Body
The original paint and body on the car are absolutely beautiful. The car has been garaged and covered its whole life. The car has never had any paint work and has absolutely no dents or dings in it. The doors don’t squeak or sag when opening and closing and the t-tops don’t rattle or leak. All lights work perfectly (including the headlights.) The rear wing does have some minor cracking but if you know these cars at all then you know that is to be expected if it still has the original wing on it. It is in my opinion very minor and doesn't detract from the car at all and in fact adds to the originality of the car. The car has newer Goodyear tires and the original gold lace wheels are in great shape. Of course there is no rust anywhere.

Interior
The black interior is in amazing shape as well. The seats, carpet and door panels are in like new condition..as they should be on a 15K mile car. The dash is mint and uncracked as are the door panels. The power windows and locks function as new as does the AC. All the gauges work as they should. The rear hatch motor works well too. The power antenna was just replaced. The car has some rare interior options including the over head console (yes the flashlight is there!) and auto dimming rearview mirror.

Drivetrain

The LB9 5.0L TPI (Tuned Port Injection) engine cranks and runs perfectly. The five speed trans shifts great. It does have new belts and hoses on it due to the age of the original ones. The car has the WS6 Performance Suspension package that includes bigger sway bars and 4 wheel disc brakes. It also has the very desirable 9 bolt Borg & Warner rear end with positive traction and 3.45 gears. The car is ready to drive anywhere.

This car is a true collectors car and has been treated like one its whole life. Its been stored properly and maintained in a way to keep in like new condition. I have a ton of documentation with the car including emission testing verifying the mileage, the original invoice, and spotless Carfax and Autocheck reports. GTAs are becoming very collectible and examples with this mileage and in this condition are very hard to find.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
