CAR IS NICE AND TIGHT NO RATTLES. VERY TORQUEY. CAR IS RUNNING IN NICE CONDITION. I AM THE THIRD OWNER AND BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2010. IT ORIGINATED IN CALIFORNIA AND THE ORIGINAL OWNER HAD IT I GUESS ONLY A FEW YEARS. MY WIFES UNCLE PURCHASED IT AND DROVE IT FOR A FEW MORE YEARS. I BOUGHT IT FROM MY WIFE'S UNCLE WHO HAD IT PARKED COVERED AND NOT RAN SINCE '92. A FRIEND AND I PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO GETTING IT GOING AGAIN. I DROVE IT AROUND TOWN IN THE SUMMER OF 2010 PUTTING LESS THAN 500 MILES ON IT AND PARKED IT FOR THE WINTER. GOOD INTERSTATE BATTERY. IT HAS BEEN STARTED PERIODICALLY SINCE THEN AND FIRES UP NICELY. IT COULD USE SOME ADJUSTING ON THE CARBURATOR AND FINE TUNING. I RECENTLY PUT SOME FUEL STABILIZER AND ADDED A FEW GALLONS OF PREMIUM. IT NEEDS TO BE BURNED OFF OR DRAINED  BEFORE FINE TUNING. KEEP IN MIND MY FRIEND AND I ARE BACKYARD MECHANICS AND NOT CERTIFIED PROFESSIONALS MECHANICALLY.
I HAVE AND WILL SHIP WITH THE TA THE ORIGINAL SET OF 4 TURBO RIMS. THEY ARE STAINLESS AND NEED TO BE POLISHED UP. I HAVE THE LEATHER COVER/CASES/POUCHES FOR THE T-TOPS TO BE STORED IN. I HAVE  CHILTONS MANUAL FOR IT. TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 500 MILES ON THEM BOUGHT IN 2010. CAR IS CLEAN. NO STAINS ON CARPET OR SEATS. DRIVERS SEAT SHOWS MINIMAL WEAR FOR ITS AGE. ALL HANDLES AND MECHANISMS FUNCTION PROPERLY.
THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST IN MY CAR AND I AM EXCITED TO SEE IT GOING TO SOMEONE WHO WILL WANT TO TAKE THIS BABY TO THE NEXT LEVEL. THIS CAR NICELY ORIGINALLY RESTORED WOULD SELL EASILY OVER $20,000. THE DAY I BOUGHT MY TA THE IDENTICAL CAR WAS BIDDING FOR ALMOST $21,000 WITH TIME LEFT.

THERE IS NO RESERVE SO HAVE FUN BIDDING AND GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
